does mono lose some of its memory after it's been taken off the spool that you bought it on?

For the rare times that I use mono line I soak my spool in warm water for about 10 minutes, then before I fish I troll my line out. For the techniques that I use mono I get real bad line twist and coil, I don't use mono for "traditional" fishing.

If it doesn't have twist, but just the memory coils, before use, tie it to something, walk off a distance longer than your longest cast, and raise your rod to tighten the line and get rid of much of the memory.

KVD line conditioner works....it will take the coils/memory out.
i usually put some on the night before and then again about an hour before i leave the house. that might be overkill...but it works and i use it every time on all my lines except braid.
i don't use straight mono anymore on my spinning reels...i switched to Yozuri US. and last year i bought some McCoy co-polymer when it was on sale at TW. i like it alot too.

I switched to braid on my spinning outfits because I hated the line twist so much. Try it. You may not go back.
