I recently got a fishing app on my phone and it tells me the fishing efficiency for that day according to the moon phase and such. Does this really play a big part in how good the fishing is? I find myself only wanting to fish on the days it says its going to be good but I am not sure if its playing a big part. Can anyone help?

I go fishing whenever I can, I have a gps with a similar feature, I planned on going on the excellent day (mine is rated from poor, average, good and excellent) didn't get a bite. But maybe my expectations were such that they should be biting anything and I didn't settle down and fish like I normally do. Now I don't bother looking til I get back to the dock or house, and I can't say as I notice any difference, but I'm not the best angler in the world either.

I find that it's a big factor if all conditions have been fairly constant for a few days. Otherwise barometric pressure and different weather patterns can almost over-rule it. This is my first post! (Besides my introduction). I should add that I just go fishing whenever I can, but sometimes I do plan days off from work around the moon phase.

seems like barometric pressure has much greater effect.

i feel the fishing slows a little on a full moon.

I don't pay attention to it because I don't need another excuse as to why I'm not catching fish. :Idontknow:

Yeah, but if I can blame moon phase I don't have to explore (buy) other lure/equipment options.

No, NO, NO, if you can blame the phase of the moon for your lack of success, then you can justify spending money on more equipment to deal specifically with that particular set of conditions. :eyebrows: :eyebrows: :eyebrows: :eyebrows:

So what I heard from a guide, for what its worth: Crawfish spawn on a full moon. Bass have come to know this and will starve themselves in the week before a full moon - those are "poor" fishing days. At and just after are "good" days as the bass are hungry, feeding those days.

Outdoor life once had the mauri charts for fishing. The full moon nights is when the records are broken. The fish become more active.

My PB of 10lbs was caught when the charts said good early (am). It was correct most of the time when it said good fishing on certain days too. I wish we still had it.

The infisnherman guys go trophy fishing on full moon nights too they have a video that explains it.

If your a trophy hunter knowing how to use the moon phases helps when to fish harder.

So far i find the moon can turn them on more just like the weather can. When the weather teams up with the moon phases the fishing is awesome.
The fish are out there just waiting for you to throw the right lure along with the correct presentation so why are you still here?
Motivation is the key to success.....
Remember on a bad day just throw the lure you never tried yet.....

Moon phase is really only good for the initial spawn becuse of the illumination, the moon glows and the fish do all the magic :wink2:

I think it is, like some say, part of the puzzle. I've seen a correlation with those chart and my success, many times.
