Hey guys I need a little help on lake Gaston. I have had such bad luck, on that lake that I have now called it the Gaston curse. My track record goes like this. First tournament zero, second two fish all under 14", third me and my partner caught only 4 fish during a fisher of men tournament. The fourth had a 5# knocked off at the boat by a net and just recently my boaters trolling motor goes out during a 10-15mph wind. So need some help, any ideas of lure choices, color etc. Areas to check. Anything Will help, got a Fom tournament next weekend and I am going down Friday to prefish. Thanks in advance.

Ok I haven't fish Gaston in very long time (1997ish) but the last time I did I placed 2nd in a club tournament. I was a nonboater fishing behind a guy who's main goal was to frontend me and make sure I didnt get to fish the good stuff first. So I had just read an article in Bassmasters about Carolina rigging the points with Yamamoto Grubs on the points on Gaston. It really wasn't my plan but since the jackbutt that I was fishing with did everything in his power to ensure I didn't get to fish any topwater or spinnerbaits or any of the things I planned to fish. I just setback and started pitching grubs on all the docks and structure after he got done fishing them and loaded the boat. I had one over 4lbs after I had 5 he asked if he could use a grub I said no I don't think Ive got enough the way these things are biting and asked if he had read his last months issue of Bassmaster.
