It could be that the drag washers got contaminated with oil. Could be other trouble too though. When the reel isnt in use, do you make sure you loosen the drag completely?

Just spool it with braid by chance? If so did you use any backing?

Likely braid slipping. Watch the spool rim as you peel off line. If the spool is not turning, the braid is slipping. Not loosening the drag between trips will not cause sudden failure. If you've had the reel apart, something may be mis-assembled.

Yes i have braid on the reel, and i've never taken the baitcaster apart. Im guessing it might be braid slipping because it never happened when i had flurocarbon line on.

Take the braid off the spool, DO NOT THROW AWAY. PUT 20-30 yds of mono backing on spool (similiar line diameter). Tie the braid directly to the mono and spool up.

See this is one of the reasons this website is so important and also why I badly wish there were people here where I live that I can learn from. I never knew that you needed to back the drag off when b/c isn't in use. Mine just stopped reeling today. I've taken it apart 3 times trying to figure it out. Grant it, the rod and reel was bought at a pawn shop 5 months ago for $20, but I expected it to last a little longer.
