As I was told by a reliable source, one of the guys fishing the varioius tournaments in my geographical area has someone "guard" their favorite fishing spots or "run off" others fishing the favorite spots during a tournament.

The individual guarding the spots has a weapon in plain sight in his boat.

I spoke to DG&IF and a tournament fisherman on this site who is a police officer and they said to write down the boat registration number, date, time and place and report the idividual to the tournament director. They both said not to escalate the situation with your weapon.

What bothers me is that the friend guarding the spots is armed and as you know, many of us carry on our boats for personal protection. So an escalation of the situation could happen, easily.

So what would you do if you ran to one of your favorite spots and there was a guy guarding the area and you could not fish it?

Or, if you are fishing one of your favorite spots and another boater enters the area and delibertly runs you off by motoring over your fishing area or doing what they can to chase you away?

Just wondering. Thanks for your input.

This "I spoke to DG&IF and a tournament fisherman on this site who is a police officer and they said to write down the boat registration number, date, time and place and report the individual to the tournament director. They both said not to escalate the situation with your weapon." Unless you own a U-Boat.

I am just brash and dumb enough to go in on the guy and test him. I wouldn't recomend that to any one else, for obvious reasons.
I am not afraid to suck.
