Ok, this is a question I ask many of my fishing buddies.Which would you prefer, a guided trip to Lake Fork for Largemouth bass or a guided trip to Lake Erie for Smallmouth? Both lakes are great for catching large amounts of large fish of each species. I personally would choose Lake Erie because I have never had the chance to catch large small mouth before. I was just curious what you guys would rather.
I pray that I may live to fish.......
Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray:
When in the Lord's great landing net
And peacefully asleep
That in His mercy I be judged
Big enough to keep.

Lake Fork for 2 reasons, fished Lake Erie most of my life and never have been to Lake Fork. Lake Fork isn't far from the Gulf and I'd be there on the same trip.

Lake Fork. I caught my PB there (the one in my avatar) and it's only four and a half hours away.

I would love to fish either one and I hope to make a trip down to Lake Fork next spring, but I would choose Erie to answer the question. I love fishing structure, and have not caught a smallmouth over about three pounds. There is something about the challenge of open water that appeals to me. I have stood on the shore of Lake Erie, in Erie, Pa when the wind was up, and that was an impressive sight.

I voted lake Fork, I have yet to catch a SMB in my 40+ years of fishing and really would like to know what a 5 or 6 lb smallie is like, but I chose Fork instead because I really want a chance to get a double digit LMB...and to fish with Long Mike, that would be a dream come true !!!
Fishing is my idea of a good lip piercing!

I have also found that when it comes to friends, a good friend will come and bail you out of jail, but best friends will be right there beside you saying d**n that was fun !!!

Kinda like Long Mike, I can be on Lake Erie in 4 1/2 hours. As a matter of fact, I'm surrounded by good/great smallmouth fishing.

But I can only find the Mesquite BBQ in Texas. I'll take Lake Fork!

May 23 at daylight I'll have this scene in a cove on Lake Fork except most of the stumps will be under the surface (I took this picture last year). It's only a 17 hour drive:
