I dont think it really makes a difference what rod you use, its all in technique.

I use a powell max 6'8" meduim heavy spinning rod for most weightless skipping applications. For skipping jigs and t-rigs i use a powell endurance 6'7" heavy baitcast rod. This also doubles quite nicely as a spinnerbait rod.

I like a rod with some tip action. For me, it seems to help with the little "flick" cast you use for skipping.

6.5 or 7 Foot spinning rod. I have managed to skip with a baitcaster, but usually only by accident...

I've always done it with spinning gear (3 different kinds). The one time I tried with a bait caster I had a "professional overrun" and quickly decided not to try that again. Bare in mind, though, I'm skipping under small trees or bushes that are about 3-5ft away from me. Got this one tree that I am always guaranteed a bass 4 days out of the week. But it never holds more than one bass. Sorry, didn't mean to go on and on and on.....

I use a couple spinning rods, both 6' one medium and the other medium heavy with 8 to 14 pound mono. I've tried longer rods but the for me the shorter 6 footers give me more control and more options as far as the angle of the cast without having to re-position the boat as much.

For baits, tubes, NetBait Paca Craws and Senkos in that order.

St.Croix LTB 5'6" Skippin' Spinning Rod. Remember whats easy for somebody to use standing on the deck of a bass boat isnt necessarily gonna work for somebody sitting in a canoe.
