Just seeing if anyone has compared these to series. Mainly the max vs savvy. i have the 734 and 735 and do like the rods but was just curious how the powell max held up against them considering they are 30-40 bucks cheaper. Thanks

I have handled both. Both great sticks, but the Powell seems to have a nicer action, lighter, and it's less money. I buy Powells.

I own a Dobyns Savvy 734C and three Powells (704C and 703CB Glass Max series and 714C Endurance series). The Dobyns is nice, but I prefer my Powells any day. The actions are just more crisp and they feel more sensitive in my hands.

Powells are my choice in rods. THey're very light and crisp, and for only 140 for 7' and under, its really hard to beat them.

Have not fished with Dobyns, just compared the two in store and have chosen powell. own 4 and feel they are a lot of rod for the money. Have one Endurence series in a crankbait model. Not sure if its worth an extra 40.00? Max's are a great value IMO.

I only own 1 powell rod and it is the TW exclusive wacky rig rod, and no Savvys. So I can't really give a fair comparison of the two. But what I can tell you is that Gary Dobyns designed the the Max line of rods for powell, so they (powell) should fish relatively similarly to the dobyns rods. Remember thought that the graphite used in each line up is different. The actions however should remain relatively similar.
