Hi guys!
I'm looking for a good fishing spot for Bass in Coral Springs, FL area. I live around University Dr. and Atlantic Blvd. I've been fishing on a large canal on University right south of Atlantic Blvd. But are there any better spots in the area?

Thanks!
Martin

Coral Springs kicks my butt every time I go there. I did fish a lake I thought may have some potential, caught a few bass there. Coral Ridge dr just north of Atlantic on the east side of the road there is a Kids Academy Learning Center, park in that lot and walk north across the driveway and there is lake with good shore access.

Thanks SirSnookalot (awesome screen name btw!)!
Coral Ridge Dr is just few miles from where I live so that's perfect (I'm west of University Dr. on 19th Street, right south of Royal Palm Blvd).
Did you catch anything big in that lake? It looks directly connected to the Everglades, so I hope there's some nice Bass there :-)

The few I caught were not big, but I only fished it once.......could be some peacocks too, many of those residential lakes a around there have them.

So how do you catch this illusive peacock?
BTW, where do you normally fish for Bass? Somewhere in the Coral Springs area? I'm going fishing this Sunday, perhaps we can join forces?

I live in Delray, don't get down that way too often. I like using in line spinners, spinnerbaits, top water lures and hard jerkbaits like an xrap or flat rap (rapala).

I live on University and Riverside. That canal you are talking about on University south of Atlantic is a great canal. In fact go West on Atlantic from University, and make the first left into the housing development. All the way down is a park where you can fish that same canal. Other good canal is Atlantic just East of Coral Springs Dr. That canal runs from the C14 down around Coral Springs Park, and through a housing development. Check out Google maps, all these canals in Coral Springs all interact with each other in some way. Its endless water to explore. I always go to different areas all the time.

So I went to the Riverside park today (corner of Coral Ridge Dr. and Southgate Blvd). I was there for 4 hours casting my Senko and other lures. I caught ZERO fish. Had one Bass bite. Weak! Lame!

Gonna try a different spot next time :-)

Fish the canal the surrounds three friends park. Take sample road to coral ridge drive, turn south and go about 1/4 mile and make at the first right. Go 100 yards straight ahead and the park entrance will be on your left behind some houses. You can fish all three sides of the hill without walking in anyone yard.
I have caught a few 3-5# bass in there using trick worms and top water crank baits.
The canal that runs along the side of the sawgrass expressway behind coral glades high school might be worth a few casts.
The canal on the east side of city hall is very old and shallow, but no one fishes there. I saw a few bass and some huge mud fish in there.
Good luck

Thats the C14 canal. Its loaded with fish, but they wont be hanging around the docks. Fish under the bridges, or you can go along the south side of it and walk the sidewalk and fish. That canal is better with a boat though. I can meet up with you one weekend if you want and show you some decent canal systems if you want. The thing is, you have to be at the right canal at the right time. Some days they are hot, some they are not.

so my son and I went to a canal near our house. we tried a top water lure first, i got a strike, but stupid fish missed. then switched to senko which never fails... pulled out a decent size bass, and had another bite but didn't set the hook right. overall good 30-45 minutes of father-son time :)
