About a week before season turkeys have a spring/ summer range and a fall/ winter range that are totally different if you scout to early you'll find birds and show up a few weeks later and be disappointed. Sometime they will not change there range till the woods start to green up.

Cheap bird seed and a trail cam. Then go out preseason for two weeks at daybreak and listen for them to fire off on the roost, i do this even before work. After that I will shock gobble them if needed but I will never call to them. When they hear my call the first time I want it to be the last time.

I also call in the car so I dont annoy my other half.
