Eagle Lake Okc

8 posts in this topic

A couple weeks ago I was messing around with the GPS at work and found a small body of water near the campus. It used to be called Thompson Lake but they changed the name over to Eagle Lake when OKC purchased it. Cops in the area told me they cleaned it up and its a back up water supply for OKC if thunderbird goes dry.

Lots of Crappie and bass. Talked with a few people who have fished it and most have said the best way is to get a small boat you can launch from shore and fish the north end. Its 9 degrees here so I went out there today on shore. I had to quit due to equipment freezing up, but the lake looks promising. No major area of cover but there are a few decent points on the north and east side. 2 bucks a day to fish and easy to get to.

You talking about over in Del City off Reno? If your into those small lakes you might try the one off I-40 and Rockwell. Another one off Sooner and S 119th or so.

I have fished out at Eagle Lake a handful of times. I put my Bass Raider on out there once right after I got it. I only caught a few fish. One small Bass, and a few palm sized Crappie.

I'm assuming the lake that Dr. Nip is talking about down on Sooner & 119th is Kitchen lake. I've never been there, but I read a couple of years ago that OKC was working on improving the area around it for recreation purposes.

I'm interested in where you're talking about over by I-40 and Rockwell...I looked up this body of water on the map after reading the previous posts. I never even knew it was there. It looks to be a great size lake for taking my Bass Raider out on. Do you know who owns the land that it's on? Is there an access fee, or permission needed? Is it bank fishing only? More info would be greatly appreciated! :)

Kitchen Lake is now owned by the city. It used to have good bass in it. I've fished out a few times but I have a buddy that fished it a lot over the years in a tube. I put my little tin boat on it when the city was doing the work around it, but it's all cabled off now.

The lake at I-40 & Rockwell is accessible from sw 15th st, from MacArthur. Just go west on 15 & it runs right to it. It's called Crystal Lake. It is owned by the city as well. Never fished it, but heard some good reports about it.

Yess this forum is exactly what I am looking for! I don't have a bass boat, but I do have a kayak so these ponds are perfect for me! I'm glad we're getting some warmer weather, suppose to be in mid 60s tomorrow might try these ponds out! Also there is a small pond on 12th and Robinson in the Norman area right by the dog park! I caught a few decent size cats if you guys are into catfish!
