ROD FOR HYACINTH. HELP

Recommended Posts

  • Super User

That's about all I fished this past summer, throwing 1 1/2oz t-rig baits into heavy heavy stuff. I love the Dobyns 805 punch rod. It's 8 ft long, and it's strong as hell. Lightest 8ft rod, I fished it 8-10hours a day straight, and did it many times a week all summer. Great great rod. My biggest fish with it was 9lbs4oz, pulled her out of some very thick stuff.

They run just a hair shy over $200 but well worth it when you see how light and well balanced they are.

sweet. appreciate that, i was looking at those, just wasnt completely sure cause ive never fished with em.

Just how necessary is a rod 8' long when flippin/punchin? i usually associate length with ability to cast far which isn't what i'm doing. i'm lookin for more of a vertical approach so i guess i could reach farther back into a mat but what are other pros/cons if any?
