Three rules to remember:
1. Don't bother posting about politics or religion, it will be edited or deleted.
2. This is a fishing forum.
3. Refer to rule #2

If your post is deemed political or religious in nature, it will be subject to edits or removal. If you get upset when that happens and wish to contend the ruling, refer to rule #4.

4. This policy is not open to debate.

If you are banned for failing to abide by this policy, the ban is permanent. There is no review process nor conditions whereby access to the forum may be restored.

I agree 100%. As I stated in my post on this subject, in hindsight this is not the place for such issues. I am sorry that I even started that post. If everyone could keep a level head in discussing such issues it would be fun. Unfortunatly everyone cannot be a adult on these types of subjects. I feel your decision was a healthy one for your site, thanks.  :)

I am glad some rules are up, yet isn't that what Paparock wanted in the first place?  A set of rules?  He seemed pretty upset when he left.

Yes, we had rules.  He just felt we weren't being fair, which is VERY common when somebody's post is edited/locked/deleted.  They ALWAYS feel we're being unjust, attacking them, too liberal or conservative, too biblical or agnostic, playing favorites or singling them out, or are interpreting the rules wrong; then they want to argue/debate the rules to suit their own personal agendas.

Given that politial/religious threads are almost always at the heart of this issue, we are no longer going to allow them here.

What happened with him was just the last straw.  I never change policies/rules because one person thinks I should.  I do so only after a trend or pattern has been established.

I WILL NOT talk about him any longer.  What's done is done, it's not open for review.  He can come back, however, since he was never banned.  But it seems he destroyed his profile, which cannot be reversed.  He would need to start over again, with brand new profile.  Too bad knee-jerk reactions based on assumptions and fueled by tempers can cause irreversable results.

I fully comprehend that this rule is not open to debate, however, maybe I can start the trend or pattern pursuant to the following policy:

"I never change policies/rules because one person thinks I should.  I do so only after a trend or pattern has been established."

Rule number 2 and 3 are contually violated.  I thought that was the whole point of having an "Everything Else" section.

Nah That's a fair question just reading my answer, no offense taken. No I got some time to fish and hang out with Glenn and this site reflects his personality and his demeanor. He walks the talk and I find him honorable and I stick up for the people I respect. Ain't bout not being anyones pet , it's about how I feel about my friends.

Hey Muddy, I've been reading your posts long enough to know that you are very passionate about that which you care deeply and I can tell you care deeply about this sight, as do I.  I was just razzing you a little bit.  I, too, have great respect for Glenn and I have defended him on occasion as well as promoted this sight as much as anyone.  I was jut expressing my opinion on the rules in what I thought was a very casual and nonconfrontational way.  If I offended anyone, especially Glenn, I am sorry.

BTW, I was a HUGE teacher's pet.  I even have the yearbook to prove it.

Hey Muddy,
Thanks for the kind words.  I appreciate it.

To clarify:
Keep in mind that rule #2 doesn't say, "fishing topics only".  It implies, "remember what we're here for, so off topics, while not forbidden and are in fact welcome, are subject to editorial review."  Make sense?

My understanding of what Glenn is trying to do is to keep the forums civil.
Political and religeous posts lend themselves to fierce arguments and invite rude often offensive behavior.
BassResource.com is the best.
Newbies are always impressed, sometimes even amazed at the comraderie and good will found here.
This is not an accident.
It is because that's the way Glenn wants it.
So do I and about 8,000 other people.
