Best Shoes To Wear Fishing

18 posts in this topic

Hello,

Looking for suggestions for the best shoes. Here is what I want: light weight/comfortable, water proof, warm. Going fishing in Minnesota and I usually use boots. But they are so uncomftable.

thanks

Larry

If weather permit's, nothing. But, probably not in MN.

Look at a quality pair of boots, such as Red Wings.

I wear sandals when it is warm but I see a lot of pros wearing crocs. I live in MI so in colder months I wear rugged shark shoes.

Here are the ones I like for boats. Bill Dance Pro Fishing Shoes

Here are the ones I like for shore fishing and kayak fishing. Aquamesh Water Shoes

Summer, nothing.

Spring & Fall, an old pair of loosely tied tennis shoes, or these if its raining.

I second the crocs for warm months. I have the pair that looks exactly like a pair of sperrys.

I really like the aquamesh water shoes.I wear size 7 1/2 though and I see 8 as their smallest size. Do they fit big or smaller than normal?

Not brand loyal, whatever is most comfortable that's what I buy. I also wear a 7 1/2 and that's hard to find size, I will not buy on line as sizes are never exact.

For beach fishing, open sandals, crocs and aquamesh shoes fill up with sand, never barefoot especially in the dark as all kinds of things wash up on shore.

Shore fishing, comfortable sneaker, usually with socks , fire ants are killers down here.

Boat action, I like sneaker style boat shoes, catching these fish that take you on a 360 around the boat, good support and traction is a must for, not too mention just keeping your balance in 4-5' waves.

I wear the Drainmaker by Columbia Sportswear. They are very comfortable and light weight.

Salomon XA Pro 3D GTX. Not cheap, but wholly waterproof, great grip, and you can do anything in them from run to work to fish. And they last forever. I have three pairs right now of varying age up to 7 years. The grip is the only thing that eventually wears out on them.

Like a few other people say, I'm always barefoot when the weather permits. Any other time, I'm rocking the good ole Nike 6.0's B)

Barefoot on the front deck when not too hot/cold. In between weather I prefer NB cross trainers for all day comfort.
