I'm sitting here reading January issue of bassmaster magazine and came across an article about Montrose lake at the the KCPL plant in west central Missouri. I work for the MNA railroad and a few years ago right after I got hired on i got forced up to Nevada Missouri and we took coal train there. I remenber sitting on a train wondering if it had bass in that lake. I ask some of the guys I work with about it most didn't know any thing about it, one guy said its more of a catfish lake and didn't know of to many bass fishing going on. It was little over a hour away from were I stayed at so I never made the trip to check it out. And now it's a feature power plant lake in bassmaster magazine. I guess you could say I was so close but yet so far away.

I have read bass fishing reports for this lake and they usually range from poor to fair though I have seen a rating of good a few times. However, some fishing reports are untrustworthy. I have thought about going to this lake a few times but usually when I am down that way I am headed to Truman or Stockton. My wife and I stopped in once on my way to Truman to check it out but on that day the boat ramp was closed for some reason. It is very shallow and very murky. One of us is going to have to try it out. :)

It has my attention now that it's on my radar. Never heard of the lake before but if I get ambitious this winter I know a couple guys that are always up for making the drive and trying a new lake.
Is it spring yet??

It's been quite a few years ago - but I thought it used to have a decent reputation and get fished some. I never hear a word about it anymore - was shocked to see it in Bassmaster. I've drove around it once but never fished it. Curious to see if anyone has fished it lately.
