Ok, I didn't want to hijack the other thread about this, but I have a question. Why? What does it do that can't be done with a dropshot?

If you think you deserve something, you probably don't deserve anything.

It is deigned to be used in cover with bigger hooks and more of a bottom hugging presentation. Kind of a 4WD dropshot that goes in more places and can be used with big baits.

Like most things you can make it what you want. No reason you have to fish heavier equipment.
It's just a way to present something on the bottom, but not ON the bottom.

With a dropshot the hook is fixed in a more rigid manner to the line, the Jika allows the hook to move freely. Would kinda be like a drop shot tied with a drop loop.

What baits work best with this rig?

These came out as a finesse presentation similar to a shakey head or dropshot with the advantage of having a straight fall and more streamline through weeds. Its kind of cool, but i would consider using these as a punch rig with a 1/2 or 3/4 oz bullet weight instead of the little finesse weight. You would have to make it yourself, but there would be better penetration and the weight wouldnt be in the way as much regarding hooksets. just a thought...

The main reason I want to use this rig is because it presents the bait in a more horizontal position more of the time. This in contrast to a texas rig which is more of a vertical presentation more of the time. I intend to use a 1/8 oz slim drop shot weight for Baby Brush Hogs. lizards, and Baby Rage Craws, a 3/16 oz. for Rage Craws and Beavers, a 3/8 and 1/2, or even 3/4 oz. for larger baits......Magnum worms, lizards, Rage Lobsters, etc. This all in theory of course for now, will know more with more time on the water with this rig.
I think it's use for rocks and timber will have a place in my style of fishing. Will not completely quit using a "Tex-Posed" rig but will be adding the Jika to offer the fish a different look.
