Looking for a new bow mount but not sure what to go with.  We do some walleye fishing too so I am looking for an all around motor.  I have heard of some troubles with the I-Pilot. Anyone have an opinion on them?

I absolutely love mine.  Never had a problem.  A lot of guys who have grown up with cable-steering don't like it because the foot-pedal on the cable-steer is almost an extension of their body.  They steer the boat unconsciously.  I, on the other hand, am relatively new to bass fishing and could never get comfortable with cable-steer.  The I-Pilot was a godsend to me.  It has so many neat features!   One of my favorite is the Spot-Lock.  If I need to re-tie, I simply push a button and the built-in GPS on the Terrova keeps me within a five-foot radius, regardless of wind or current.  Steering with the I-Pilot is instantaneous and is just as effective as cable-steer once you get used to it.  In short, I have nothing but good things to say about this system.

I love mine as well.  Hardest thing for me to get used to is the "reployment" if you will.  It is not just a grab the rope and sling it back into the boat type of deal.  You have to grab the head and lift straight up and then back.  The other thing is when in shallow water, you used to be able to just lift up with pull string and run shallower, and with Terrova you cannot.

All of the other aspects of it, FAR outweigh the two I just mentioned!

I love my I-Pilot, I've gotten use to it, and no problem manuvering around piers..
The GPS functions on it are awsome, I don't think I could ever fish without it.
On the down side, the remote and foot pedal are cheap, both broke the 1st year, and had to be replaced,

This will be my 3rd season with ipilot. In addition to what Long Mike said another nice feature for river fishing is the autopilot, you set the direction and speed, point the bow into the current and go. I have the powerdrive which doesn't have the footpedal but have never had an issue with the remote control. The only time there is an issue with the unit and I wouldn't call it bad, is when the satelite signal is lost. Happens when I go under low concrete bridges. The motor gets a mind of it's own.
Is "basstiality" the same as sleeping with the fishes?

Just upgraded from an Edge to the Terrova w/iPilot 2 10 days ago. have fished hard in 15-20 mph winds last 2 trips out. Couldn't have even thought about it before. The new (2012) remotes are a nice upgrade.
Pros far outweigh any Cons there might be.
Would do it again in a heartbeat.
