Ok so i broke down my Pro Qualifier (PQX10SD) 5:2 to1 baitcaster and cleaned and lubed as per the instructions. I reassembled the reel and the spool will not reel in the line. The handle turns, worm shaft moves, thumb bar presses down and resets when I begin reeling but it will not pick up the line. I reassembled using the diagram so I believe everything was reassembled correctly. So reel buliding/cleaning experts, what the heck did I screw up? I took it apart again and reassembled and still no dice.
Please help before I throw this in the spare parts bin.

It usually happens when the anti reverse rachet/Trip Rachet is installed on the flip side. Just disassemble it again and install the anti-reverse rachet on the other way.

Have a great day! :D

Baluga,
Is that the rachet that looks like a ninja star? If so Ihave it so the points face clockwise. The reverse way it looks like it won't reset the thumb bar?

yes, just like the ninja star. If the ratchet star is installed the correct way and still not working, the only reason that the thumb bar will not reset is when the rachet star, main gear and the drive shaft sleeve are not properly seated and not able to catch the clutch kick lever. Once installed and all screws in placed and tightened. Turn down the drag star a bit before cranking to test.

Have a great day! :D

Baluga,
When I flip it the other way it will not reengage the thumb bar. Yes I tried tightening the drag all the way and nothing different.

It will with the points facing clockwise. If i flip it, the handle will not turn over to reengage the thumb bar. With the cover off if I turn the bar the reel handle attaches to, it looks like it has to go with the points facing clockwise. Turned the other way it just misses everything and will not reset the thumb bar.

From what you have described lt sounds as if you have a drag problem. For some reason either not enough pressure is being put on the washers or the washers themselves are slipping. You didn't get any grease on the drag washers by chance did you?

Just happened over the weekend with me. The main gear is slotted and only sits on the shaft a certain way. I also had the two tension springs behind the drag click thing turned wrong, I had to make sure the main gear was seated on the shaft correctly, hold it in place while reassembling, works fine now. Was fishing with Bass Ninja, he can tell you I tore it down right on the boat and couldn't figure it out. Got home and really took my time with it, works fine.

Haha yep first thing in the morning on the first cast I believe? I give you mad props for tearing that reel all the way down in low light and gettin it all back together. You certainly handled it better than I would have :D

Sounds like a clutch wheel malfunction, lots of times on the wheel, the teeth will become worn. Goto mike's reel repair, grab schematics for your reel, find the clutch wheel part #, then enter that number on the search bar on Mike's reel repair's website.

Was the line release button up or down when you put it back together?
