I'm hoping someone has this particular model of the CI4, that was specifically designed for the Power Pro Microline braid in 3, 4 and 5# (although I have yet to see it in 5). My home lake is very clear, but with varying degrees of cover. I'm wondering how well this Microline braid in light tests will hold up to snags and light abrasion. So any first hand experiences would be greatly appreciated.

My ci4 is my favorite spinning reel I own. I don't think it is a microline version? I ordered it from TW. I have it spooled with 6 lb yo-zuri hybrid, and have reeled in 15lb+ carp/drum/catfish while on the river for smallies! If your lake is "very clear" I would opt for other line than braid. Flouro is the best in my opinion for ultra-clear water. I like Seagar Invisix

**EDIT** Just checked and mine is a 2500. The microline is a 100 size reel, so mine is not the specific model you were asking about. But I LOVE mine.

Yes, I always use a Seaguar fluoro leader. I completely agree with you, after having fished with a 2500 CI4 for a weekend I knew I had to own one. I actually had my eye on the regular CI4 1000 or the 2500 like yourself, but I just have a great deal on the Microline 1000 model, thats hard to pass on. I know it can handle the largemouth I fish, I'm just concerned that this particular braid may not be able to handle the cover.

I'm sure it can handle other braids/lines as well! But check to make sure first!

The biggest thing about the ML is that ti's got a different drag knob that is more adjustable, if you will. It's got a much greater range of drag adjustment on it to account for using light line.
Will the 4lb PP handle what you're intending to fish? That's a tough call. It's intended primarily for clear water and relatively open. The reel will handle other lines, yes. It's optimized to handle 150 yards of 4lb, though. That's sort of the big deal about it. It's a regular size 1000 reel with a shallower spool. I've fished it a number of times dropshotting smallies on Superior and rather line the reel, even though I detest braid. It's fun to fish light line like that, sometimes.

Well if light abrasion includes rocks pp will suck at that. Ive had a 17" bass on with 10# pp my line touched a big shore landscape rock and tink line snapped on contact.

I pulled the trigger and bought the reel; too good of a deal to pass up... and you can never have too many reels, right? I figured I'd give it a shot in local waters with the 4lb PP, or may even try 8lb TufLine XP I have which has a very small diameter. I should be alright with a decent sized fluoro leader, and at worst it will be a dedicated stick for dropshotting in open waters. I'm curious to see how well the finely tuned drag works on this reel.

Thanks for your input, and I'll be sure to report back on this reel as soon as I get a chance to take it out.
