SPIRIT LAKE, IOWA - Too often a value series reel is a mere skeleton of the higher price versions. Not so with the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 1003 LP baitcaster. The price says low budget but the features scream high value.
The name itself, Abu Garcia Ambassadeur, has a decades long tradition of building the best bait cast reels on the market. The low profile design fits the hand comfortably and the oversized handle is easy to operate. Drag control is convenient with the large star drag located at the base of the handle.
Internally, the 1003 LP has both magnetic and mechanical brakes, a feature not included on many high priced reels. More than ample line capacity is provided on the aluminum spool. Three bearings provide smooth operation and the 6.1:1 high speed gear ratio allows the angler to burn a Berkley® Frenzy Rattl'r through the grass or slow down to pull a Texas rig Berkley Power Worm® by a sunken brush pile.
