Woodard Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Jordan Lake

 

APEX, N.C. (April 6, 2009) - Tony Woodard of Four Oaks, N.C., won the Bass Fishing Leagu Piedmont Division bass fishing tournament on Jordan Lake Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 24 pounds. The victory earned Woodard $4,948 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Potomac River Regional Championship in Marbury, Md., Oct. 8-10, where he could ultimately win a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
   Woodard caught his bass fishing steep banks in 4 feet of water throwing a spinnerbait and a jig.
   Rounding out the top five boaters are William Dorton of Church Road, Va. (five bass, 22-0, $2,474); Jeff Coble of Manson, N.C. (five bass, 20-2, $1,649); William Blanton of Fayetteville, N.C. (five bass, 19-12, $1,155) and Bradley Staley of Pleasant Garden, N.C. (four bass, 19-3, $990).
   Jeff Gerould of Youngsville, N.C., took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $755 for a 9-pound, 9-ounce bass he caught.
   Edward Gordan of Rougemont, N.C., earned $2,474 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to four- bass weighing 13 pounds that he caught throwing a spinnerbait into bushes.
   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Eddie Cook of Clemmons, N.C. (four bass, 11-11, $1,237); Michael Bryant of Thomasville, N.C. (three bass, 10-14, $824); Terry Tolar of Elizabethtown, N.C. (three bass, 10-6, $577); and Pat Kendrick of Columbia, Va. (two bass, 9-11, $495).
   Tim Privette Sr. of Wendell, N.C. earned $377 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 9-pound, 4-ounce bass.
   The next Piedmont Division event will be held on the Lake Gaston in Bracy, Va., May 2.
