OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (Sept. 29, 2008) - Boater Marcus Sykora of Osage Beach, Mo., won the Bass Fishing League Ozark Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake of the Ozarks with a two-day catch of 10 bass weighing 30 pounds even. The victory earned Sykora $5,003.
Sykora said he focused his efforts on flipping docks to catch his limits of bass.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Mike Riley of Jefferson City, Mo. (nine bass, 28-00, $2,943); Joe Brantley of Willard, Mo. (10 bass, 26-12, $1,964); Chris Jeffries of Lake Ozark, Mo. (10 bass, 22-14, $1,373) and Tom Murphy of Richland, Mo. (nine bass, 22-06, $1,177).
Sykora took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $795 for a 5-pound, 12-ounce bass that he caught on a ½-ounce jig.
Arnold Payne Jr. of Cuba, Mo., earned $2,880 as the co-angler winner thanks to nine bass weighing 18 pounds, 5 ounces that he caught while fishing a green pumpkin jig around docks.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Mark Horton of Cleveland, Mo. (seven bass, 15-15, $1,440); Don Meyerett of Castle Rock, Colo. (five bass, 14-00, $962); Chris McQuarry of Springfield, Mo. (five bass, 12-05, $672) and Jeremy Davis of Imperial, Mo. (four bass, 11-12, $576).
Meyerette earned $382 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 5-pound, 1-ounce bass on a shaky-head rig on a brush pile.
