Tramel Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Percy Priest Lake
SMYRNA, Tenn. (March 3, 2008) - Boater Josh Tramel of Smithville, Tenn., won the Bass Fishing League Music City Division bass fishing tournament on Percy Priest Lake Saturday with a three-bass catch weighing 13 pounds, 12 ounces. The victory earned Tramel $3,507 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Wheeler Lake Regional Championship in Decatur, Ala., Oct. 9-11, where he could ultimately win a new 198VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Tramel fished the lower end of the lake and targeted shallow water with spinnerbaits and a jerkbait to net his fish.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Steve Caudell of Portland, Tenn. (four bass, 12-6, $2,064); Kevin Yarbrough of Greenbrier, Tenn. (three bass, 10-15, $1,377); Kirk Morton of Murfreesboro, Tenn. (three bass, 10-13, $963) and David Gnewikow of Mount Juliet, Tenn. (two bass, 7-12, $825).
Scott Brummett of Brentwood, Tenn., took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $575 for a 7-pound, 2-ounce bass he caught on a crankbait.
Martin Creasy of Westmoreland, Tenn., earned $2,064 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to two bass weighing 7 pounds even that he caught on a jig in eight feet of water near the upper end of the lake.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Don Allmon of Lebanon, Tenn. (two bass, 6-10, $1,032); Cody Lowe of Manchester, Tenn. (one bass, 6-1, $688); Grant Davis of Franklin, Tenn. (one bass, 4-12, $482) and Jeff Emerton of Hilham, Tenn. (one bass, 4-5, $413).
Lowe earned $287 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 6-pound, 1-ounce bass.
Music City Division anglers will visit Old Hickory Lake in Gallatin, Tenn., March 29 for their second regular-season event, followed by an event on Center Hill Lake in Sparta, Tenn., April 26. The division's fourth qualifying event will be held on Kentucky Lake in Buchanan, Tenn., June 21. A two-day Super Tournament, the division's fifth and final event, will be held on Percy Priest Lake in Smyrna, Sept. 13-14.
