Boater Brad Porter won the bass fishing tournament on Rend Lake

WHITTINGTON, Ill. – Brad Porter of Bluford, Ill., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 18 pounds even Saturday to win the Bass Fishing League Illini Division tournament on Rend Lake. For his victory, Porter earned $3,205.

Porter was fishing in about 4feet of water targeting wood and rock with jigs and crankbaits to catch his limit.

Brendon Delaney of Highland, Ill., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 12 pounds, 5 ounces Saturday to win $1,603 in the co-angler division.

The next BFL Illini Division tournament is scheduled for Sept. 8-9 on Lake Shelbyville in Shelbyville, Ill. After the fifth Illini Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 4-6 Regional Championship on Cherokee Lake in Morristown, Tenn. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy Silverado, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard.
