NORMAN, Okla. — The new Texas Team Trail bass fishing tournament circuit continues to add sponsors with the recent addition of Minn Kota. Mnn Kota is the world’s leading manufacturer of electric trolling motors, and offers a full line of Talon shallow water anchors, battery chargers and marine accessories as well.
Minn Kota joins a growing list of supporters with a commitment to become an official partner of the Texas Team Trail. With large purses and sponsor bonuses, the new Texas Team Trail touts the highest team payouts in Texas. The first event is set to begin on Sam Rayburn Lake in March 2012.
“The Minn Kota brand is a welcomed addition to the Texas Team Trail,” said Mike Hastings, Tournament Director. “Whether it’s their trolling motors, shallow water anchors or on-board battery chargers, the Minn Kota name is synonymous with quality. We’re fortunate to have the support of such a well respected company that shares our commitment to competitive angling.”
The Minn Kota electric trolling motor began its life in 1934 in Fargo, North Dakota. Mr. O. G. Schmidt, inventor of the trolling motor, was known to be a man of many diverse ideas. Prior to the trolling motor, Mr. Schmidt invented, produced and sold a copper-soldering torch from his home in Wheatland, North Dakota.
Due to its success, manufacturing operations were then moved to Fargo. Because of its proximity to the MINNesota – North DaKOTA border, Mr. Schmidt named the business The Minn Kota Manufacturing Company.
Since its founding, Minn Kota has led the way in product innovation and cutting-edge technology.
“As a company, we strive to support competitive fishing at all levels – and the new Texas Team Trail format is exciting,” said Minn Kota Marketing Director, Joe Brown. “It’s not only a great opportunity for us to help support our customers in and around the state of Texas, but the payout structure and sponsor incentives are incredible. It’s just a natural partnership for us.”
The tournament circuit, designed exclusively for team competition, will begin March 10, 2012, and will include four qualifying events, plus a year-end championship. The Texas Team Trail website is accepting registrations. The website offers details about the circuit, including official rules, tournament structure, payout and incentives.
The circuit also includes media coverage, not only within the Lone Star State but across the country as well. Airing on multiple major networks, the Texas Team Trail will be seen on The Texas Channel, World Fishing Network, Pursuit Channel and the new NBC Sports Network.
