If I could get higher speed gears to fit in those, I'd do it tomorrow.

I bought two 4.4:1 Energy PT's about three years ago, buying into this idea that I needed slow reels for cranking. I used them once before ordering 6.3:1 gears for both.

You do not need more torque for "winching" in the fish. That is pure, unadulterated marketing BS. You play the fish with the rod, not the reel.

If I get to the point where I can't crank a DD22 with one of my higher speed reels, I'll give up this sport, and take up something less strenuous, like needlepoint.

so true , so true !!! i actually use my REVO SX 7.1:1 reel for deep-diving crankbaits and have no problems whatsoever , if i want to slow it down some , i just crank slower

I've liked their buoyancy but shied away after hearing rumors. One more: I've heard that they'll eat their way through your tackle box, boat hull, and finally fizzle out somewhere down in the earth's core. Is this one true??

like wayne said, do not put any 3x (elaztech) baits with other plastic lures. the elaztech will melt and make a nice goo that is near impossible to get rid of.
it does NOT melt in your typical plano tackle boxes. but keep them seperate from your other plastic lures.
strike king zulu's and zero's are my fav. elaztechs.... but im looking forward to new designs now that sk. isnt the monopoly on them.

as these fine folks have stated the fish prolly don't care.If however you do care.(assuming the line is still quality)just keep a small spool of your favorite flouro.and tie it as a leader to the green stuff.I prefer to do this if I'm fishing for ex.a finesse worm in clear water
I like to use braid with flouro.so i get clarity of the line near the hook but zero stretch.May not be necessary but it gives me confidence. And if the fish don't care even better.

If you're set on vendettas thats cool,But i just received my berkley series one rods from cabelas I got a 6'6"mh and a 7' mh for $39.99 and $49.99 each. These retail at $85-100.They are great rods for mid priced.they do not have a split grip like the vendettas.I will say though that I can't afford a $300+ rod like a G loomis or Daiwa Steez. If you are set on a vendetta i would be interested in how you like them.

That line is great for general fishing. But if you want a really strong line (get you out of snags) and something that is great for casting distance, try some power pro 20lb braid. It is very sensitive and has no give so adjust your drag and hook-set. Once you get use to it you will like the strength to limpness ratio.

Fished with the new chronarch last weekend. I believe it was the 100D7. Anyway, it was incredibly smooth and really casted far. However, I have been using the Curado 200E7 since it came out and I can honestly say the chronarch is not that much better. I compared it to a curado that i just had serviced and the curado casted just as far as the chronarch, but the chronarch was smoother. 120$ smoother? I think not.

I went looking for an under $75 rod today and found this rod for $60. I wanted to pair it with a Curado 200 E7. I have put together a lot of combos this year trying to keep the total combo price under $250. Never used an All Star before. Wow, was I impressed. It felt similar to my $150 Avid rod, but way less.

It's like a really strong wine. Can be served warm, room temp, or chilled (depending on what type you get). Some have spicy overtones, and are designed as a sipping drink unto themselves. Many of the "Americanized" Sake's are watery, and don't have a lot of taste - especially when served too hot.

Not everyone likes Sake. But then again, most people have only tried the Americanized versions. Ugh!

Fished the glades from the bank today. Again I was blown away that most of the fish caught were the peacock bass. All were small. I did manage a few black bass. Had at least a dozen oscars and cyclids. Anyway most of the fish I threw back were being tracked by alligators. Here are a couple of short clips of the gator action.
Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!! You need to or
Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!! You need to or
Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!! You need to or

My biggest (longest) was 24 1/2inches and I didn't have a scale but I keep a tape measure in my tacklebox. I guessed her to be around 6-7lbs but without a scale one can only guess. I did take a quick pic before I let her go.

Quote:

Did you buy it at Wal-Mart?

Also, how did you test it?

Actually yes I did buy it from walmart. I tested it by using a polomar knot to the scale eye and also to a metal ring then slowly pulled until the line broke. The 10# P-Line out did the 12# vanish everytime. Neither of the lines broke at the knot but in the middle each time. I am sure there are better performing flouros out there but for now I will stick to co-poly . To each his own.

yea that's right El Dorado Park baby. But why do you want me to stay away from the shoreline. During spring I caught my first bass there using a rapala xrap XR08 in greenish color. I just want to know what would work right now because I've thrown almost everything and still no bites.
