  1. Past hour
  2. Seaguar red label has been great for me and all my buddies. Spiderwire stealth braid
  3. Wanted to hear people's experiences with these cooling fishing clothes. Do people have a preference of one over the other? We are heading to some really hot weather so wanted to see what people's choices are.
  4. Cottage cheese doesn't belong in yoga pants
  5. Hammer rods. My 7’3 hvy hammer is as light as my nrx853.
  6. None of my local Dick’s had this combo in stock, so what I ended up doing was going to a Sportsman’s Warehouse that had the combo and had them price match it lol.
  7. It's none of my business if you decide to throw your hard earned money at stuff without doing proper research, I just don't have any sympathy for individuals who think they're entitled to a free rental of expensive equipment. Is every store a risk-free trial program where you can buy stuff willy-nilly and just return it if you don't like it now? What ever happened to accountability?
  8. Curious as well. I'm still using the one that came with mine. Much prefer the motor mate style tho
  9. The little Calcutta is a 5.0:1 and the E5 Curado is a 5 ratio reel also.
  10. I like Academy prices and selection. Here in Springfield we have the big Bass pro shops and his prices are crazy. Plus we have Lews sportsman warehouse. I just suscribed to bass time for 12 dollars and they sent me a 10 academy gift card. That was pretty cool of them.
  11. Carolina rig; egg sinker, bead, swivel, leader and hook. Is this the rig your are using? I ask because no rigging term is universally accepted today. You are basically dragging a weight and can't feel what is going on behind it unless something stops the hook and you pull out all the slack line between the weight and hook or a bass does. Using a traditional C-rig the weight is somewhere between 3/8 oz to 1 oz egg sinker, the leader somewhere between 36" to 48" long. Define your Carolina rig. Tom
  12. Today off the lake dock. Using nightcrawlers on bottom without a sinker as usual. Crazy thing is it was just there. I never felt a strike and never saw line take off or twitch. I was going to reel in to make another cast and boom, there she was. And then the fireworks started. She put on a very nice air show. Weighed right at 4 lbs.
  13. I've got a Loomis 722c GL3 and 723c IMX. I also slightly (1.5") shortened the handles and added a nice butt cap. Wonderful, timeless rods.
  14. Nearly 8PM in Omaha right now and we are still sitting at 93 with a “feels like” temp of 108. Far too hot for my liking.
  15. No havent used the powell rods. Surprising the heavy Helios is whippy I have medium and medium heavy and they are not whippy at all. I throw over 1ounce lures on the MH.
  16. When fishing a Carolina rig I usually dont feel the typical tap . Its a pressure thing for me . I do a lot of swings and misses .
  17. Where I live, halfway between St. Louis and Memphis we don’t have much except for academy and wal mart. Academy always has a good selection and reasonable prices. They’ll keep my business.
  18. I watched a video of Stange fishing for redhorse (suckers).
  19. So just to back up some..I slowly drag with rod tip down to the side and drag 1 to 2 feet at a time, I reel up my slack to the beginning and pause a little between the next pull. The bite normal happens in the pause, sometimes you feel it..sometimes you won't know until you do the next drag and it feels like your pulling up a wet towel. In either case....reel out all slack with rod pointed toward fish and sweep back hard to the side and keep reeling. It takes some practice, especially if you are use to a Texas rig....think more of a crankbait hook set but harder and longer.
  20. I can understand the theory of "match the hatch" and when baitfish are schooling I have no doubt that it's critical to do so when trying to catch bass during a feeding frenzy. However, my lake has no white, bullet-shaped fish that float and have little propellers on their butts, yet from 5:15 to 5:25 this morning I caught four bass on a Whopper Plopper. I try to pay attention to what is on the menu for each season, but in the end you can tempt them with almost anything...or they won't be tempted at all IMHO. Keep in mind there are a lot of experts on here that have helped me vastly improve my skills so if their opinions differ from mine I can tell you who to put money on. 😎
  21. If a narcotic passes the expiration date, how much bourbon do you need to wash it down with to bring it back to 100%
