  2. Sorry, you are right. But any hobby forum you will find the same question repeated. Just figured I would see what some reel options were for my conditions.
  3. If only this question had never been asked before.
  4. I would like to go no more than $150 on the reel. And no particular brand.
  5. First question - what's your budget for the reel? Second question - any particular brands you might favor?
  6. Whatsup guys. I am looking to replace my cheap rod and reel setup with something nicer. I currently am using a bps pro qualifier 2 and a 7' mh lightning rod. Love the rod, not the biggest fan of the reel, but I learned how to use a low profile with it. I fish rivers in illinois mainly, mostly bank but i do get out on the boat on the weekends. So being that I river fish alot I'd like a little bit more powerful reel as I am constantly dealing with pike, gar, and debris lol. What would you guys suggest for a reel that is going to last me in these conditions? Im feeling like a med heavy st croix or fenwick would be fine.
  7. Baby Glocks make nice carry weapons. The G-27 packs and good punch and if you reload, you can make it fit what ever need you have. Then you could go with the G-29 if you want some real fire power in and smaller frame. I like the Glocks because they are small enough to conceal but big enough to still shot comfortably, and I have a rather large hand, like I wear a size 15 wedding band and have to buy XXL gloves. I can spread a little over 10" from tip of thumb to tip of little finger and still hold the baby Glock comfortable enough to shot accurately. I am a south paw but use the Gen3 right hand Glocks with no problem. However, I think the Gen4's are ambidextrous
  8. Let me think....lake dropping several feet during the spawn cycle with dead adult size bass along the shoreline....find another lake this one is in serious trouble. Tom
  9. No doubt thanks brotha ! That’s awesome. I’m really liking little O. I will most likely pick your brain about that place at some point. I have my work cut out for me this season, trying to focus on the local trail events. Excited because we do have a stop on little o in August. So I have some time to get more familiar with it. I’ll be on square on Saturday trying to figure something out for the following weekends MYA tournament. Also neee to cull some on the KBF State monthly this weekend, I’ll prob end up on Estes to work on that. I’m excited, Every weekend since ice out I’ve been scrambling around trying to coordinate/host a trip with a friend, this weekend I’m jumping in my truck solo and going hard, nothing to slow me down. Need some 5lbrs in my life right now...
  10. It has to have mayonnaise on it. Peanut butter on one slice, Hellmanns on the other and the nanner in the middle. Mayo on just a peanut butter will help keep it from sticking to the roof of your mouth if you have that problem. Of course to me, a sandwich ain't a sandwich without the mayo on it. One thing, don't try a PB and pineapple. I love a pineapple and mayo sandwich, but pineapple and PB don't go well together
  11. I have a 7’6” Heavy Exage and love it for frogs and heavier jigs, but it gets a little heavy after fishing with it for awhile, I do not know about the MH models. I also recently bought the 7’5” SLX MH and love it for Texas rigs, chatterbaits, and spinner baits. It is definitely my most versatile rod. If you mainly fish lighter Texas rigs and lighter jigs, I would save for the Dobyns Fury 7’3” MH, it seems to be balanced better and have a little more sensitivity. Dobyns also has the lifetime warranty that cannot be beat. My friend broke my Dobyns fury on a boat flip, so it took it over to Academy and they replaced it without having the receipt or asking any questions. Hope this helps.
  12. So after years of beating up my canoe it has a small hole the size of a dime. It’s in the very front of my old town satanic , wondering what would be good to seal it so it’s water right again. Also I’m getting my new Nucanoe frontier 12 and went to get a fish finder for it. Wondering the best way or best transducer mount to add one.
  13. I have the LMH in 7’, 7-3, and 7-6 in ZBones and 6-9 (something near it anyway) in the Helium 3. some were ordered custom with the balance kit. Those don’t feel tip heavy; the others do a little, but I don’t mind. I like them all. No blemishes, no problems, etc. I use Steez on the ZBones and Tatula SV on Helium. I’m still moving reels around looking for the perfect weight combo. Just got the new Steez CT SV to try.
  14. I had a avid inshore that the reel seat became loose on. They exchanged it for a new one , with the $20 deal. No complaints here.
  15. Regardless of brand, braid to leader on a long medium action rod. When they eat it just reel, sweep set, and haul them in- just like on a crankbait.
  16. No drugs, no excessive drinking, no gambling, no well nothing, hmmm... I guess it is boring 🙂
  17. I wound up going with an Abu instead of a Scorpion, but an old friend heard and sent me this with some copoly and a few other things.
  18. Today
  19. I have a few Kistlers that I love. None have any imperfections.
  20. Don’t do it. Don’t eat a PB and banana sandwich in a boat. You’ll catch less fish.
  21. Make a video. Also what kinda truck are you in the market for? Boat would look good behind a Tacoma or Tundra...lol
  22. I had Shimano and Berkeley Rods by around 1984 that had EVA foam.
  23. I just tried one after reading this thread and it was ok, not my new favorite but it wasnt terrible.
  24. You’re right that the direction likely has nothing to do with the poor image. However since the Totalscan is also capable of sidescan, the direction would matter to make sure each side is reflected on your unit correctly. If it is mounted backwards, you could be trolling with the bank on your left but you scanner would show the bank on your right.
  25. Ive used CS a few times only once was I disappointed in their treatment. Had a rod tip replaced on a 2pc rod that I paid the $20 for got the new one delivered and not 30 minutes from out of the package to the lake and first fish on the replacement tip shattered at the joint. There is nothing at all on my end that I think was the fault for it to break like it did. They instead of sending me another rod tip free charged me $20 again to get the defective one replaced.
  26. I was never a big fan of Kistler. Sold all of them and won't look back. I wouldn't accept a subpar rod. I could understand something small but not multiple issues. I'd get that taken care of.
