  2. There are BR members a lot more knowledgeable regarding Shimano-G. Loomis series rod warranty then I am. When the NRX 1st came out about 8 years when Gary Loomis was still envolved the rods retailed for $500 and seriously looked into buy a few JWR's until I learned the rod replacement warranty was another $100 certificate purchased at the time of sale. The fully warranted NRX was $600 per rod back 2011. Liked the rod but the warranty program turned me. Today most high rods require $70 rod replacement warranty, Loomis was ahead of curve. Tom
  3. I tried a small pond, but even after lots of rain the water is low. For whatever reason they must be letting water out. I do not know why???
  4. I have been fishing exactly twice this year, and caught fish on exactly two lures: a hard jerkbait, and a 4" paddletail swimbait. Waters are still in the low 50s in my area.
  5. I experiment with and enjoy using about every color except green pumpkin..
  6. Post-frontal fishing from the riverbank today. Was hoping for a bigger smallie to show off, but it was not to be. So here is a little one instead. Also, a somewhat foamy largemouth:
  7. Congratulations! There aren't many feelings to experience that are as satisfying as catching fish with a lure you made.
  8. you could get 3 Abu Silvermax's for $125 right now on Amazon
  9. I’ve caught a few bass this year on jigs, but nothing on plastics yet. Most of my bass have been caught on crankbaits and paddle tail swimbaits this spring. Maybe the vegetation hasn’t grown enough yet, but it seems the bass are closer to structure.
  10. Thank you for all your info and as always I really do appreciate it!
  11. Crankbaits: gray and fire tiger. Soft plastics: purple, black, green pumpkin, black/blue. Spinnerbaits: white Jigs: black, black/blue, watermelon, orange/black. Topwater: bone, black, chrome. Lipless cranks: orange, gold/black back, chrome/blue back.
  12. I have the Lew's MB and think it is a fantastic reel. I paid around $75 for it on black Friday last year. I have a SLX on the way. Should be here this week. I will set it up and test it out soon. Could not pass up American Legacy SLX combo deal. A rod is coming with the reel!
  13. Dobyns aren’t typically my go to rods, but was looking for the same thing for my wife. Landed on the Dobyns Sierra 705sf spinning rod. Haven’t fished it yet but test casting it handled a 3/8oz swim jig with rage menace trailer really well. Only complaint - handle needs to be longer.
  14. I agree with you on that! most times expert advise is not freely given-- and those that are fortunate to receive it-- should should really appreciate it. I know I always do if anyone needs and any advice on current Building Codes, county inspections, building homes, Plans ect Don't hesitate to PM me any time with questions and I will help in any way I can

  16. Best lakes in the KC area for a kayak? Trying to go out this weekend
  17. Glenn's already posted a good one...print it out and put it in a 3-ring binder. Or print it half-size and it fits into a Franklin-Covey Classic size...which is what I did. https://www.bassresource.com/fish/fishing_log.html
  18. I'm looking to start logging catches I've made for bass over 14in. I'm pretty set on doing it in excel, and not really looking to use any apps (I don't even like to remember my phone exists while i fish🙄). Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to set it up.. should I make different sheets for different locations or do it by year, etc. If anyone has any suggestions on how to set one up or some good tips on it or even a file template I could look at I'd greatly appreciate it!
  19. New high end Shimano Reels (Metanium and up), maybe a Steez. Shimano Expride casting rods, G. Loomis GLX/NRX casting rods.
  20. I have 2 Steez EX reels, an XS and HS looking to sell together for $440 The XS is scuffed on the top of the reel and has a good bit of rash would consider 7/10 but is still good mechanically, the HS is in excellent condition, would consider 9.5/10. The XS is for sale for 220tyd and the HS is only for sale with the XS
  21. I do when it's overcast and at least mid-May(in Iowa). I feel like the "buzzer" type baits, be it toads, buzzbaits, whopper ploppers, Devil Horses, etc, have a tendency to garner bites all day. Major reaction bite baits. Not so much with walking/popping baits in my experience. Those are more of a timing deal, in my mind.
  22. Got out from 8:30 til.2 today. Got 10 -1 on a chatterbait and 9 on a jig with the best two weighing 3-2 And this one at 4-13
  23. I want to try these. Do you fish it like a normal worm? I usually fish shallow around timber.
