  1. Past hour
  2. Got out for about2.5 hrs. After the rain finally stopped. Had 6 hits but only caught 2 of them 4 casts apart that weighed 3-2and 3-8 on a buzzbait.
  3. I have been to Jamaica 9 times with the last being in April. We did some touring the first time and have stayed in and around the resorts since then. Look I to the MoBay club if your going to be in the airport for any given time. Limit how many credit cards you bring and USD go a long way. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions......Relax, it is a great place to vacation....and congrats on the wedding
  4. Braid-Pline TCB8, Seaguar Smackdown, Sunline Xplasma. Flouro-Seaguar InvisX, Sunline JDM Sniper. I don't use mono anymore....
  5. Yesterday
  6. All 3 are excellent lines, I've been using InvisX and its incredibly strong, I usually use the 8lb the most. Sunline is also excellent and I use it a lot also. I would not recommend buying leader line, its a rip off and really is not any different from a filler spool.
  7. I agree at 8 dollar shipping forget it
  8. How much money do you want to spend and do you really want to be able to throw an actual 1/16oz total weight lure?
  9. Like @J Francho said, it won't make a bit of difference which one you choose for a short leader. The vast majority of the benefits offered by high end fluoro are lost when you're only using 5'-10' at a time. Buy actual leader material or buy some Seaguar Red Label and save some money.
  10. I cannot stand long pants when outside so when I need the sun protection in my yak I resort to tights/leggings under my shorts. The lightweight ones are amazingly cool despite being black, which seems to be the only color men's baselayer tights come in. One advantage of the dark color is that they dry in the sun incredibly quickly, if I wade into to my knees to launch the tops of my legs will be dry in like 30m and the undersides in maybe 60m.
  11. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  12. Bps premium jigs with the gammy hooks. I pick up multiple packs at a time. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/SearchDisplay?categoryId=&storeId=715838534&catalogId=3074457345616676768&langId=-1&sType=SimpleSearch&resultCatEntryType=2&showResultsPage=true&searchSource=Q&pageView=&beginIndex=0&pageSize=24&searchTerm=Premium+jig#facet:&productBeginIndex:0&facetLimit:&orderBy:&pageView:grid&minPrice:&maxPrice:&pageSize:& Currently on sale too
  13. Don't make it more complicated than it needs to be. I fish mid depth crankbaits anytime I'm fishing cover or structure that falls in that 5'-12' depth. I generally fish all crankbaits with the goal of bouncing it off of whatever cover/structure/bottom is present and it is no different with mid depth cranks.
  14. You do realize that August is prime hurricane season there, right?
  15. Kalins, Yamamoto and SK Rage Tail are the brands I use. White, smoke and green pumpkin are the colors. I use them on jigheads and as swim jig trailers.
  16. Thanks, but $8 shipping kills the deal
  17. Describe your hook set technique, casting distance and line size /type? Tom
  18. The Bass Resource Articles section has a ton of info covering all things Bass - Including several directed specifically at electronics . . . It's a really good place to start . . https://www.bassresource.com/bass-boats/ A-Jay
  19. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Nice Intro and best of luck with the with rig A-Jay
  20. Some missing data: 1. line type 2. line # test 3. cover 4. hook type 5. depth/distance fishing Asking if moving from a 7'1 to a 6'8 rod will dramatically improve your trig hookset, I doubt it. All of the above would likely be much bigger factors.
  21. Sold. Hopefully the water levels come down a bit as JFrancho alluded to and I’ll be able to settle in on a good summer smallmouth pattern. Will be spending at least 4 days on the water, hoping to come home with a new PB smallmouth. I think I’ll have a decent chance as all I’ve gotta do is break that stubborn 5lb mark
  22. Kalins Lunker Grub in Witches Brew .
  23. Some of my most productive jigs (or baits in general) are ones that look like they've been through a blender. Skirts are faded or changed color from scents and dips, head is chipped up and the hooks been sharpened half a dozen times. Its either 1.) A confidence thing and 100% between my ears or 2.) The more dull, beat up and weathered a bait gets, the more natural it looks. My opinion is you don't need to paint them, but you certainly should paint them 😋
  24. I was hoping id hear from you!! I live a mile from,arrowhead.. There are some good fish in there.. But they are hard to find. It gets real weedy too which I hate fishing in.. Where do you put in the winooski below 89? That sounds interesting.. I grew up on Fairfield pond.. That place is a gem. I usually fish it early in the year before it gets choked with milfoil. I'll have to try south of 78 on charcoal creek.. I know the culvert is always packed..
  25. Sent a PM about the reels, interested in both
  26. Define high wind and waves. Wind is common for most bass lakes with frontal systems comming and going. Sustained wind over 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph are common wherecI fish. Waves with white caps over 12" to 18" are also common and come with wind. It's easier to make long cast down wind, remember the bass will be facing into the wave current and prefer bait and lures in front of them and swimming toward them, not comming from behind. If the bass are not willing to chase a lure moving away from them you miss that fish. Casting into wind is difficult but higher strike percentage because the see it coming and doesn't Spook like it can coming from behind. What to do making long cast in the wind? Cast paralell or sideways to the wind at various angles. When you learn to compensate for windage your long cast are fairly accurate and bass can see to both sides, upwards and in front very well. Keeping the rod tip down reduces line bow, increases strike detection and in position to make a quick reel hook set. Tom
  27. Thank you for the welcome. Russ, I was thinking about making the trip up there, it's a nice lake from what I have seen randomly finding it while on my motorcycle last year. Smithville is hard from the shore caught a Freshwater drum the other day other than that 1/2 to 1 lbs bass. jimmy if you make it my way bring your poles. actually if anyone is my way bring your poles.
