  2. I would recommend the Lew's Custom Pro Speed Spin. 11+1 Stainless steel ball bearings, Aluminum body and sideplate with flush and drain port, C60 Carbon skeletal rotor with fat aluminum bail wire, Lightweight double anodized knurled (braid ready) aluminum spool, Smooth sealed carbon multi-disc drag system, Aluminum handle with Winn Dri-Tac knob, 6.2:1 gear ratio. All that and it looks fantastic as well. It's my favorite spinning reel.
  3. The Curado DC version is larger (width), but it's only on the handle side, so it really doesn't impact the palming side. Curado 70 would fit the bill too.
  4. Let's get a couple other things straight. Because science!
  5. I got this 25" pickerel to the kayak in very thick Lily pads using 65 # braid. I would definitely up your line considering you know the Pike are hitting
  6. Have you ever heard of the expression about comparing apples to apples? I can cut a flat worm in half and it will wriggle around but both sections will live. Should I expect the same behavior if I chopped some bird in half? Do you think all living things have the same brain capacity? Is it all the researchers that are bought and paid for or just the ones regarding fish feeling pain?
  7. The in fisherman crew has produced at least three guys on the list. Doug Stange, Al Lindner & Larry Dahlberg.
  8. The Aldebaran is pretty much the king of small and light if you are a Shimano guy. If you need more line capacity, the Chronarch and Metanium MGL's are phenomenal reels as well.
  9. Yea, that's the BooYah JR. Not going to use it as every other time I use a brand new BY frog, it's gone. Record is, 3 days I had a BY frog... haha I'll trim it. Thank you!
  10. Thanks for the advice! I didn't know if there was a correct way or if it didn't matter. I appreciate the advice.
  11. You don't seem to understand that fish are not mammals. Do some research rather than make asine statements!
  12. If you want smooth reel, you might have to turn to Daiwa. The new tatula 100 might fit you. If you want to stay with shimano then you have no choice but to get Bantam MGL or 19 Antares.
  13. The one on the far right needs a trim! I would 3/4-1" of the strands off
  14. they are all decent. I like my Simms ones but haven't tried Huk yet. key is a decent fit for me since the materials from all of them are pretty similar.
  15. Imagine if, like fish, a dog could move freely and do all of its normal activities but didn't have a voice. Then imagine sticking a hook in the dog's back. He's going to flail around and run around and bite at the wound because it hurts and he's confused. Now give a fish a voice. You think he's going to stay silent when you hook him? Just because fish don't have arms, legs, necks, or a voice doesn't mean they're not clearly expressing pain. They're doing it how they know. The only way they know. "swimming away" which while in midair it just looks like "flopping". Come on y'all are smarter than this. Researchers, media outlets, and pros of all sorts in all sports always have strings attached to their arms and a deep pocket of cash to reach into if they say what someone wants them to say or hear what someone wants them to hear.
  16. I’m planning to fish the Susky this weekend anywhere between Hoover Island boat ramp down to Marysville including the Juniata. Any updates on the river conditions and how the fishing has been overall, lures used, times etc would be greatly appreciated.
  17. I have small hands and I love the new slx line of reels for this reason. However, when I fish them alongside my curado k the retrieve is way smoother on the curado. I’m now looking for a reel as smooth as the curado but smaller. I know think the dc is smaller but it’s not light from what I understand due to the dc components. What say you?
  18. And who to ask, if you don't know.
  19. It's not stupid but true... "Sometimes it not what you know, it's who you know" Mike
  20. Today
  21. Sounds like a steal. You could easily move it on for that price if you didn't like it or part it out and still be ahead of the game.
  22. Yes, and there is an easy way to make sure the blade goes on the right end of the swivel. Simply hold the swivel and see which end spins and which end does not, the end that spins is where you attach the blade. The blade will spin if you have it reversed but not as easy, and just so you know this is a mistake a lot of people make when they first start building a spinnerbait.
  23. Just bought two cheap WalMart frogs than a BooYah JR.
  24. My advice is to make sure you do everything you can to support her getting to enjoy fishing. Then you two can take some pretty great vacations in the tropics and combine fishing with regular getaway vacations. She'll be thrilled to see how hard most salt species fight. Bahamas is really good for combining fishing and sun/water/etc.
  25. Right now I have all Daiwa reels because ei love the tatula lineup but my next baitcaster will probably be a Shimano just because I want to give them a fair shake.
