  1. Past hour
  2. I was fishing with a friend once and we pulled the boat off the river into a small creek coming in and there were probably 30-50 small mouth bass hanging out under a bridge maybe 30’ wide. He kept trying to catch them and I was bored out of my mind. There was zero challenge. This is how I view fishing, I like the challenge of not being able to pick off easy fish just to puff my chest up and say I caught a fish. I view bass guarding fry the same way. What’s the point? If you’re that bad at fishing I guess it’s fun to say you caught a fish.... The Susquehanna (PA) shuts down fishing near Harrisburg during the spawn and that is why the bass there are so plentiful and big so there’s your science.
  3. i've been looking for something like that for spinnerbaits & squarebills. thanks for the heads up!
  4. Again, there's no evidence to suggest it does - which is my point. Your argument is purely speculative.
  5. ok fellas i've decided i wanna try a daiwa td luna but not sure what size to order as i don't have any way to fondle before buying. what size daiwa td luna correlates to a shimano calcutta 200b and abu morrum sx3600? 203 or 253?? thanks, Big Ed
  6. That still looks like worn out braid. I wonder if someone ordered smackdown and returned it to TW with the spool full of used braid to scam TW. I heard of a guy opening a Shimano Stradic only to find that it was some similar colored $30 Chinease reel with a Stradic spool fitted to it. The assumption was that someone ordered the Stradic, took the reel out of the box and replaced it with the cheap reel and spool before returning it. Another buyer then received the box when the seller returned the reel to inventory.
  7. I lost a Vision 110 jerkbait 2 weeks ago and spent an hour looking for it... to no avail - -😢
  8. For any of you folks out there that have an OG Zillion or Fuego, this spool is a direct drop in and is pretty dang amazing. This reel looks great. Surprised it's not gone already. Good Luck!
  9. To some degree, I have noticed that higher quality=longevity. Not exactly "high end", but I have a Rapala Husky Jerk that has caught dozens of bass and walleyes, and it still runs true, and still catches fish. My Whopper Plopper has survived some crushing strikes from big bass and muskies alike. I've broken the wire on many cheap spinnerbaits, and some of the more spendy ones definitely seem to last through more fish.
  10. If wacky style - use a #4 Neko hook when drop-shotting..
  11. They’re not “extras”! They just need a home on a rod! I have a 13 Concept A that needs a minor repair. I think this is a great reason to finally send it in.
  12. Yes I agree, catch and release quickly probably has little effect. But catch, put in a live well, and haul it miles away probably does. TX bed fishing can’t help the conservation efforts on a body of water.
  13. I was also wondering what it would be like to frog with a H power rod in general. What were your impressions of the SLX rod?
  14. My fishing greatly improved when I learned the REAL definition of '' structure '' -- not perry's. It's more than a hassle. It doesn't work because it's a scam. So, how do YOU locate schools of fish ? Fishing tournaments were around when perry was young so he had ample chance to prove how good he was. Did he ? Not that I can find.
  15. Just looked. I would just hop on that deal. I thought we were talking MSRP. Sorry about that.
  16. I use the Gamakatsu size 1 split shot/drop shot hook
  17. Check my ad, I still have some nice rods for sale. No lefty reels though sorry.
  18. If you are from a state that allows this why not use the tube on the bottom instead of a weight and drop shot using something else. I've had good success doing this in the past.
  19. Jerkbaits sold. Swimbaits, bladed jigs, and jigs all that are left.
  20. Was anchored off a wind-blown rocky shoreline shortly after 7:00. Water temp was 52.1º. Why not start off with a deep suspending jerkbait? Good morning to you! Here's another one that mistook a Lucky Craft Staysee 90 SP for a nutritious breakfast. The wind, which had been just about perfect, soon puffed up to the point that it was knocking the heads off the whitecaps. I'm outta there to find somewhat calmer conditions. Got into the general area of a small rock hump I've been fishing for years but couldn't pinpoint it. Dropped the anchor onto the surrounding soft bottom and thought I might locate it by fan casting a Finesse TRD on a 3/32 oz. Midwest Finesse head. I didn't hang rock but I did hang this: This big smallie looks like a 6 lber. but it's only 3.81. (I'm not saying it wasn't welcome in my net.) Finally found the hump I was looking for. I was getting fish but also getting hung up and breaking off. Feeling I had sacrificed enough tackle to Mistress Quabbin for this outing, on the next snag I put the rod down, opened the bail and went forward to untie the anchor rope so I could get behind the stuck jig and maybe free it. I untied the first hitch and then glanced at the reel. Why was the line peeling off that quickly? Because a 3.96 lb. smallmouth had plucked the jig off the rock! Now wait a minute, I know this fish looks smaller than the one in the previous pic, but the scale read the weight I posted. When I win the Lottery I am going to buy the perfect Quabbin boat which will be big enough to carry a professional photographer as well as a masseuse to massage my sore senior body when it tires from techniques other than finesse. I'm not holding my breath on the Lottery win, though. Onward to a long ridge now. The wind has calmed to the point that there is none. Ugh. I'm not through fishing for the day yet and I adopt an attitude of extreme stealth; when the Q's very clear water goes flat the fish get skittish and go deeper. I rig my 7' ML outfit with a 1/16 oz. Midwest Finesse head with a Mudbug TRD. The smallies particularly like Mudbug on a sunny day. I cast and took a short snooze while waiting for this bait to hit bottom. Ha! Note that I've pulled my arms in so close to my body that this fish looks like a 2. The Accu-Cull scale read 3 1/2. Alright then. Enough for this day. I'm going to buy a Lottery ticket on the way home. Will Wetline
  21. I fish Kistler exclusively (guilty of being a brand loyalist). I started with the Magnesium 2 as it was recommended to me for a jig rod. I was really impressed with the way it balances and lightness of the rod. Now I have rods from every line including the new Argon line which is by far the best sub $250 rod I have ever fished. I'm glad there are more people out there using these rods. I seem to be the only one in my neck of the woods.
  22. It's about time someone took a real stand against the scam, the cult of '' spoonplugging ''. I was a victim of it for 6 yrs.-- a complete waste of my fishing... but at least I had the ability to get out. When did you see buck catch a lot of fish ? Where did you see him make '' lunker catches '' from the casting position like he claimed he could -- video not fish pictures ? Perry was wrong on practically everything, and was not original in any way as to the very few things ( if any ) he was right on.
  23. My vote goes to the Kistler Z-bone. I have not fished any of the other high end rods on your list but I do have the 2019 Z-Bone and 2 of the older generation Z-Bones. They are light, feel great in your hand, extra sensitive. Balances great with about any reel now a days. Plus the added benefit of using a blank actually produced by Gary Loomis and not just have his name stamped on it. And Z-Bones are on sale through Kistler's website. They are running around $520.
  24. Buy direct from the mfr's without a TD and purchase whatever TD you want. Mounting large side scan TD's on a turning TM motor head isn't a popular option. Tom

  26. Green Bay Wisconsin area should be a good choice driving from Omaha NE. Tom
