  2. Linder or Dahlberg were the first to come to mind, but this would be very hard to narrow down a list of a few.
  3. It's the nature of the beast. Because the hook eye is attached to the jig head and not directly to your line, when you set the hook, it is forced to follow whatever direction the jig head pulls it. Very rarely do I get hooks in the roof of their mouth this way, where as, I almost always hook there or the upper lip with a skirted jig. About the only thing you can do is change the way you set the hook and that'll take you down a road that's hard to come back from. If your concern is harming the fish, I suggest smashing down the barb on the hook. I'd venture to say that I land 80% or more of the fish I hook with barbless hooks. Just keep steady pressure on 'em and try to keep 'em from jumping. Heck, you're gonna release 'em anyway, so it's really not that big of a deal if a couple get unbuttoned prior to you putting eyes on 'em.

  5. That would be Daiwa Tatula 7'1" MH Xfast bottom contact rod. I See Kistler H3's are on sale at TW and they have a rod matching yours that is litghter weight that should work for a good bottom contact rod. Tom
  6. The Kistler H3's are on sale at TW at the moment, new models are probably on the way. Tom
  7. Melvern has a high population of smallmouth with a decent number of fish over 15" and some reaching over 5 pounds. Shawnee has a much lower density, fewer fish over 15", but has produced several over 6 pounds to nearly 7. Perry doesn't have any free ramps that I'm aware of other than way up the Delaware. It doesn't have a great population of smallmouth but it does have some big ones. Wabaunsee has a bunch of smaller ones and has some really big ones but not many in between.
  8. Have the same exact yak for the river. This stadium seat fits perfect in it. https://www.amazon.com/Cascade-Mountain-Tech-Stadium-Bleachers/dp/B019EIAR1K/ref=sr_1_4?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIj4OR_JbF4wIV2B-tBh0RdAeXEAAYASAAEgJMRPD_BwE&hvadid=153689199033&hvdev=t&hvlocphy=9021703&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=15813408604690437548&hvtargid=kwd-171689317927&hydadcr=9405_9464971&keywords=cascade+stadium+seat&qid=1563683520&s=gateway&sr=8-4
  9. Mint condition shimano chronarch 200 E6 with box for sale. 175.00 TYD obo. Shipped with tracking.
  10. Idea for you (no use for me), but I know some members on here want/use the plugs for their boat pedestal bases. I am sure they don't use $10 worth of plastic which was the cheapest one I found.
  11. Yikes, so now I have to clean off the weeds out of the line tie area, the blade, and prop and the trailer hook?
  12. Umm, they still sell it and I would never give mine up. http://www.hoverlure.com/ What makes this even more special? You have to PUT IT TOGETHER. Honorable mention: Bill Dance Dancing Eel.
  13. I have an Expride as well as a Kistler Helium 3, and I actually find the Helium more sensitive. I feel every little tick with that thing. Now, the Exprides are great as well, obviously.
  14. I am going to go with the Carbonlite 2.0 rods and the Powell rods - for now. Powell during the TW labor dale sale and BPS rods when springtime sale comes around (no rush now) or whatever rod sale they have. Everyone's suggestions were great, but the rods $200+ I see no value in. I have already been burned by $400 rods with a "lifetime warranty" only to get a $50 discount on another $400 rod. Name rhymes with KISTLER.
  15. My idiosyncrasy about baitcasting rods without a fore grip reek seat locking ring eliminates off the self Dobyns rods for me with the exception of their swimbait rods. I can't say enough positive things about Gary's customer servive but Dobyns isn't into custom rod builds. I had ALX biuld my custom rods with a short fore grip locking ring, no threads, perfect balance with NG+ blanks to equal NRX rods at that time. Looking at Shimano Exprite in the DX price point looks good but haven't fished them. Megabass rods that I have fished have slower action/power then I prefer. Customer service is important when needed. Tom
  16. IMO just take your nice setups. Ultimately, we don't spend money on a combo only to let it sit on a rod rack while we are out on the water.
  17. What is the best mounted LED spotlight for bass boat? Are the cheaper ones on Amazon ok, or do they hold condensation and lens yellow?
  18. As I've said in other threads, I don't have a boat, so long casts are necessary. Casting across a river, to hit the other side of the bank.
  19. I’d recommend the shimano expride for sure. Excellent series of rods.
  20. # Horse Jockey Win Place Show 7 Maximum Security Saez L $3.60 $2.60 $2.20 5 Mucho Gusto Talamo J - $3.40 $2.80 3 Spun to Run Lopez P - - $5.60 6 Everfast Leparoux J R
  21. Some ambassaduers/ lightning rods could do. But otherwise..dude don’t sweat it. You won’t loose your stuff Buy a couple of versatile and good quality setups. Use them to pond hop, and kayak. Enjoy them, take care of them and don’t look back. Have fun. The more you spend (to a point) will cover all your bases and you’ll be happy. 2 setups should do you... three if you really wanna lug around gear
  22. I really like the Exprides, and the poison adrena is only going to be better. I also have a H3, Zolo, Champion, and levante. While the kistler is lighter, the Exprides are better balanced and more sensitive. The Zolo is a nice feeling rod, but not sensitive compared the the H3 or Expride, and I don't like the exposed threads. The Levante is sensitive for the price, and it looks sweet too. If I had to rank them: Expride Levante/H3 Zolo Champion Ultimately the balance on the H3 is a big negative for me.
  23. new finesse combo- Orochi XX Whipsnake, Stradic Ci4+ 2500 and 15 lb Daiwa J-Braid. Really liking it for Neds, wacky and Neko rigs. I imagine it will be good for dropshotting and small poppers or jerkbaits. Also pictured is my new favorite topwater, the Duo Pencil 110. Bait casts a mile and walks beautifully. Fish love it.
  24. I’ve not used a weighted swivel rig yet, so I can’t say for certain what’s going on, but have you tried setting the hook faster. Maybe it’ll make the hook be not quite so deep in their mouth. Maybe also try crushing the barb down a bit with pliers so it’s easier to back out of their yap 🤷‍♂️
