  1. Past hour
  2. I wade here in Northern Utah, but like the OP said we don't have any animals that will eat you. I did have a beaver chase me that was the size of a Labrador, d**n thing was a giant, I carry a .22 mag just in case.
  3. I love going to Okoboji. It might be because it’s the start of a new year and I’m hyped or something. I always try to get out there once a year.
  4. My trailer bunk flipped/ tipped. Why did this occur and how big of an issue is it? IMG_2863.HEIC
  5. I had to replace my brand new rod because of a broken tip using their no hassle warranty and it cost me $80 shipped to my door. It took exactly one week and was painless.....
  6. It goes the other way too... I'm 67 and regularly help young tyros out who can't tie knots, and have silly lures that some salesman sold them, or advise on other tackle issues. 🙂 One kid last year had a backpack that was so overfull and heavy he could hardly negotiate the canal bank. I showed him how few lures and rigs I kept in my vest and he decided to travel lighter from then on.
  7. As a general rule of thumb any bait you move with your rod as opposed to your reel faster the faster the better (to a degree, you don't need 9:1 or 10:1 reels for a dang senko). I have a tournament MB which I really really like. It is on my frogging and punching set up because it is the 8.3:1 model and it's crucial for me to get the fish out of the cover as fish as possible, and reel my bait back in when im done my presentation to make more casts. Absolutely 100% this your soft plastics set up. Worms, t rigs, jigs, etc. A lot of people have already said to throw it on braid and this is somewhat a matter of preference, but I really stand by a quality fluoro over braid. I've read some articles where professional anglers have mentioned the noise that braid makes as it rubs against different structure is foreign to fish and they've noticed less bites. I have two bottom bait set ups one with 15lb seaguar invisx and one with 17lb. I found some braids can sometimes affect your baits action in the water on the fall as it is more buoyant than a fluoro. Regardless, if you do decide to use braid. 99% of the time tie a leader. The only time you don't need to is fishing straight into pads or mats in water that's about as clear as chocolate milk. Ideally, you'd have both so when you do need a braid to get a fish out of the slop you can tie on a t-rig or a jig and horse em outta there like I do with my tourney mb (which really only ever happens in one of the ponds I fish and only in the summer) and for all other plastic applications you will have the fluoro ready to go.
  8. With trailer all dialed in (except for vibration from wheels/bearings), focusing on the boat. Motor is hung on the transom but not really secured - it's a 1974 Evinrude 15hp 2-stroke that was last used on a salt water sailboat so the clamps are broken and seized - but that's a project for another day. Bass Pro seats and mounts installed, and tonight it was accessory rails. Got them from my dealer. They're aluminum C channels. Cut the 8 foot length into two 4 foot sections and installed one on port, one on starboard. I felt bad drilling holes in a new boat but it worked out well. Beveled the drill holes and used nuts with nylon inserts on the outside of the hull with nylon washers between them and the hull to protect the finish. For accessory bracket just use a panhead bolt and washer slid into the rail, secured with washer/lockwasher/nut through a section of L-angle iron (aluminum) to support anything like cup holders, rod holders, bimini top mounts, etc.
  9. Don't do it man. Once you go down this rabbit hole you have to have all $600 rods!! All kidding aside i thought Johnny Morris Carbonlite 2.0 were decent rods until I bought a few NRX's and a GLX. Then I wanted to throw my Johnny Morris in the trash. The redesigned GLX is a good rod for the money.
  10. This is the model before they discontinued the line and became the imx pro series. It is a great stick and one of the best jig rods out there. The best being the original imx 844 with weibe reel seat. IMO No need to use the expeditor program unless you need the rod in 2 days. Send it in use the regular warranty and you will receive a new rod no questions asked. I’ve done this many times with gloomis and shimano and have never been questioned on breakage, just a new rod delivered to my door.
  11. Long story short I'm lucky to be alive let alone fishing this year as back in February I had a very bad work accident got hit with overhaul ball on crane broke 5 vertebrae and a pile of other bones including left foot and right ankle. Although I am not a religious person at all I feel I have been rewarded for working hard with therapy to recover from the surgery's and going through physical therapy and being in a hospital for 21 days. So far I have a 4.75 and a 5.39 for my two biggest so far this year as well as one other one over 4 and quite a few in the 3# range. Almost forgot to add these are Ohio fish
  12. I'm signing a new job offer letter in the morning and will be moving to the Greenville/ Spartanburg SC area and was wondering about bank fishing. Yes, Hartwell and Keowee are in the area but I don't have (nor do I want) a boat and my car is not suitable for transporting a kayak. I was wondering if anyone knows where there are some good bass fishing ponds anywhere in the area where I can bank fish. I'll be working in Duncan, but I haven't picked a place to live yet. I'm planning on grabbing an apartment for a year before I decide to buy. I figured if there was an area with a decent amount of bass ponds I could start looking there first. Boy, I'm going to miss the fishing where I live now. There are literally thousands of lagoons to choose from and plenty of big bass.
  13. Just make shore the owner has title to both the boat and trailer. If you are a AAA member they can assist you with any bill of sale issues and boat / trailer license fee's etc. Get a written bill of sale that includes titles, when take ownership you are libel during thr trip home. Good luck and enjoy your boat. just curiuos; why is the seller selling his boat? And how do you operate both trolling motors from one location, front and back? Tom
  14. Awesome looking lures, what color is the gold jerkbait? (ex:tennesse shad, gill)
  15. At this time I have a pfluger supreme 3000 on it.
  16. Any Ranger RT 178 or 188 owners. I have a like new bass boat technologies dash mount for a helix 9 or 10. let me know if anyone is interested.
  17. Your gut will tell you almost all you need to know in many situations. 2k is a decent price for both you and him. I would definitely ask him about the electrical systems if/when you see him in person like has been suggested so you know how everything works. A test ride would be nice but there isn't much besides a huge hole or massive crack that would turn me away. Rivets can be bucked if needed to stop minor leaks. I had a jon boat at camp that would leak a bit in the summer if we left it upside down for too long in the sun, we always joked that it needed the cool water to help contract the aluminum and tighten things up.
  18. Would you think my fat bodied pumpkin/orange crawfish be better suited used as a texas rig rather than hooked to a jig ?
  19. I will take them. Don't NEED them, but I will give away what I won't use. PM sent
  20. Braid if you want no stretch or sufix advance mono if you want low stretch and low vis.
  21. That's about a 4.5+# smallie congrats! Try to look a little happier though!
  22. I like what you are doing, I work for in a fishing department and there is so much plastic available it kinda makes me sick. You could also try to make some biodegradable lures and use another form of packaging besides plastic. Good luck and I hope your business blows up, the world needs less plastic...
  23. The tires are new (so are the hubs, bearings and rims) but bad things can still happen to new stuff. When I get a chance I'll jack it up and spin the wheels to see if they're out of round. Thanks for the suggestion.
  24. We have to be very careful this time of year because it's alligator mating season and the alligators are moving from lagoon to lagoon and very aggressive. In fact, today I got chased off of three different lagoons by gators. Most of the time they hang out in the distance, but today each came right at me once they saw me. There's no way I'd ever chance a kayak with them, especially this time of year.
  25. With a faster reel and a stiffer rod, what application would work best..? I was thinking worms, weighted soft plastic Texas rigs ?
