  1. Past hour
  2. #1 - Down Boy! #2 - Personally? Meh...now if it was Ashley Graham sitting there --- (HOWLS!)
  3. The Destroyer rod is super nice, but when you're getting into rods at this price range, it's hard to go wrong.
  4. Is that one of those real dolls for lonely people?
  5. I'm sitting on that fence with you, buddy. (Thanks for giving me a slight pass on that one. I will say that I am at least peering over that fence. ) I'm certainly not qualified to assess what fish think (or sees... or smells.... or feels....or likes....or tastes...). But... I'm given it hell. My next documentary is on the development of behavior in LMB. And, if there's one place I'm headed, it's why bass strike lures, or -more often- why they don't. "Why" is the toughest question. Ask any parent of a 2yr old! But, I just never could succumb to... "Why ask why". In the process of researching for this doc, I ended up conversing with experts in the field of comparative cognition. Really fun, and part of that conversation ended up orbiting around my using the word "think" (bc of the common phrase, "How fish think..."). Each expert, except one, shied away from the word "think". It's just not known how that works in humans, much less animals. Since the evolution is a continuum -that's agreed upon- the problem becomes, when and where does cognition leave off and "thinking" begin? Fascinating question and that's in the field of comparative cognition. I took the safest and, I feel, the most penetrating tack, sticking with the better-defined "cognition", and then, looking at what is most important to fish. I argue, that is what they "cogitate/think" about. Doc is slated to be released in the next week or two -finally! I haven't fished since April! I'm ready to relax and get some fishing in.
  6. I only have experience with Seaguar Invizx @ 15#. I think it's a really solid and good choice for an all around fluorocarbon line. I have one reel spun up with it and another reel with 30# Seaguar Smackdown braid with a #15 Invizx fluoro leader. I haven't had any issues with it. But like I said, it's the only one on your list that I have personally tried and used. The other lines I have no experience with, so can't really speak to them.
  7. I am the same as @JediAmoeba. I have to cast right handed, switch the rod to my left hand and reel casting and spinning gear with my right hand. I have tried casting left handed but it was not a pretty sight.
  8. The line strecth test referenced took a lot of effort but founded on false pretense using Ultimate line strength not yield strength properties of the line. Why anyone would go through that much effort when all that is needed is to look up the material properties to predict the results. Hanging weight that equals line strength wasn't helpful, all it shows is line diameter equals line strength for the same polymer materials; pounds per square inch (psi) larger diameter has greater area. Yield strength is the point of force where material start to move or yield in % of streching for line. With Nylon, polyester, polyurethane! fluorocarbon or blends of those polymers yeild strength of net resins is about 33% of ultimate strength where it breaks. Lif the test used a weight of 3 lbs for 8 lb test line you wouldn't see measureable stretch until force is applied over long time period, all polymers cold flow time over pressure. 3 lbs is a high force for 8 lb fishing because it's the limit a medium power fishing rod can apply. If you usec4 lb weight or 50% of the line strength you will see a small % of stretch and at 6 lbs or 75% of line strength yield will occur with measurable line stretch. Generally 3 lbs lifting force is max for medium rod, 4 pounds Medium heavy, 5 lbs heavy, 6 lbs X heavy with standards bass rods, specially rods like flipping and swimbaits have higher lifting force between 6 lbs to 8 lbs. nobody uses 8 lb line on heavy or Xheavy rods and the rod and reel apples the force on the line as the fish pulls. I will say this 1 more time; you feel line drag cutting through the water not line stretching. Back to long cast. You must reel in all the slack line between you and the bass before setting the hook using the rod regardless of the line being used. Tom PS, pardon my long rant, the misunderstanding of line stretch gets to me.
  9. If OK doesn't come out with a pedal drive Big Game soon, I can see myself in a OT PDL.
  10. I am looking to get some quality line for my medium light finesse set up. I will be tying a fluorocarbon leader to 15lb braid, and I am wondering what yall would recommend from the choices of Fluorocarbon that I mentioned above.
  11. The Addermine is extremely versatile but not the best dropshot rod. It can do it but no my first choie. A G Loomis GLX or NRX 822 DSR will smoke the Alpha rods with performance as well as the warranty. I would stay with G Loomis, Megabass, St Croix, Dobyns, Kistler, Daiwa, or Shimano.
  12. I have a serious crush on Plano boxes and bags!
  13. Have 4 concept A reels for sale. All in excellent condition, 2 are 8.1 and 2 are 7.3. Will trade reels for dobyns champion or champion extreme rods. Otherwise looking for $120 yd 631-291-0056 can send pics
  14. My great-nephew watching the new Lion King movie in Seoul.
  15. Wow, wow wow! This right here folks is why this forum is so amazing. Thank you so much for this heap of knowledge you just dropped. This thread should be a sticky.
  16. Agree on the name! But I do have one somewhere I hate a spinnerbait so bad it makes me mad just thinking about one. Yes I know they work but not during the countless hours I've thrown them
  17. Launched at 3 a.m., air temp was 63 and water temp was 78-80. Lost another buzzbait, (blade keeps cutting the line on the cast) but landed three on a LC wake bait. The rest of the week looks good temp wise. Sure is nice to be able to paddle without coming back drenched with sweat.
  18. I did ok with a monkey butt color whopper plopper last week. It's kinda translucent chartreuse belly and the back is a translucent brown.
  19. Zoom Fat Albert's in white, smoke pepper and green pumpkin.
  20. My local Meijer is the birthplace of Meijer and they never have good fishing stuff on sale. That’s a good deal.
  21. Rapala has husky jerks marked down 20%, and their LS hooded shirts 25% then you can stack 15RAPALA, FISH10, THANKS10 and FREESHIP49 to stack 15%+10%+10%, and free shipping over $49. https://www.rapala.com/rapala/sale/
  22. I just don’t like fluoro because it doesn’t float. There is more drag when you set the hook from the water your hauling and I like seeing the”twitch” when a bass takes a bait with floating line.
  23. Zoom 3" Fat Alberts and Yamamoto 5" Single & Double Tails. Chartreuse White Blue or Black.
  24. Why does it look like there's nothing but a chartreuse crappie tube in that bag?
  25. As many others have stated, joining a local club that allows non-boaters to get partnered up with boaters is the best way to go. However, if you're asking if you could fish tournaments from the bank, the question that comes into play is keeping your fish alive without a livewell. For that reason, most tournaments will not allow people to fish from the bank.
