  2. Another vote for the Tatula SV. Probably Chronarch MGL after that.
  3. I've made a few cheap blade baits, and I've found bending the blade is necessary on some more than others. It's like a tuning thing. The trailer/weight can even have an effect on it. Some times less of a bend gives faster start-up, sometimes it's the opposite, but it definitely has a major effect.
  4. Dobyns 683, I wouldn’t normally choose it but only brought the one rod and needed it to catch a bedding fish. Only brought it up to make the point that the SLX did well
  5. Hopefully your luck is changing, wish mine would LOL
  6. Get a X2/Northstar 31 AGM, I've got four in my boat, zero issues running Solix 15 and 360 all day. Deka is another good brand, their Intimidator 31 series AGM. Whatever you do, stay away from Interstates....
  7. Good job. May that be the first of many.
  8. Today
  9. thanks for recommendation.will follow your advice!
  10. our club fishes a lot of small lakes. so we don't do a lot of running with the big motor and my battery runs down and wont start when it needs to. in fact, it gets so low my power pac wont even jump it. do I need a bigger battery or a deep cycle that can handle the load?
  11. 5:4:1 Ratio - deep diving , big crank baits 6:4:1 Ratio - square bill crank baits , spinner baits , chatter baits , swim jigs (the standard ratio for a quite few years) 7:1 Ratio - jigs , T-Rigs , top water (many say the new standard ratio for many things other than deep diving cranks) 8:1 ~ 10:1 Ratio : frogs , pitching , flipping
  12. I found a fish farm that shows prices online that says a 12+ inch largemouth (which all those appear to be), is $13.99 each. I rounded up to $14 and that puts it at $1596. That still seems pretty light but if they applied what I suggested above, it would make it a felony. The added bonus to that would make it illegal for them to possess a firearm, so no hunting for them either if they did that. The bodies of those fish don't suggest a lake that is overpopulated. More like a healthy lake that was full of healthy, dumb fish that were easily caught.
  13. They say the value of the Bass was $456?! There is a lot more that goes into the Value of that many fish. It takes years for many to get to a certain size. $450 isnt going to get you anywhere soon.
  14. Jerkbaits and rattle baits are by far my 2 best producers of spring wipers. Dams, wind blown banks and points are usually the best areas, and make sure to watch for birds like was mentioned. Bladed jigs are a big time sleeper bait for wipers as well if they're up shallow.
  15. I'd guess somewhere in the 14-16 pound range. I've caught them up to the low 20lb range, doesn't look quite that big, but that's a nice one, well into the double digits for sure.
  16. I'm surprised you caught anything at the outlet, last few times I've been there it's been nothing but carp and gar so thick you could walk on them there. I usually keep the boat a long cast off the bank and put my bait right on the bank and fish it most of the way out. Some days they're right on the bank, some days they'll be right next to the boat, or somewhere in between. Fish slow is the main thing at La Cygne it seems.
  17. Nice, I wasn't able to hold one so I went with the shorter versions. Great line of rods.
  18. This is how one of the losers feels about his crime. His excuse is that he'd been going there for years and it was overpopulated. Illegally fishing this guy's property and thinking he had the right to manage it. Zero remorse. Doesn't care at all.
  19. I have my Stradic Ci4 on a St Croix Legend Tournament Bass 6'8 MH Fast. I will never take it off.
  20. ^ 7 How about some outlaw country. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VO6bI-xrj8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1mw4ImMUmQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPv5NZR_Wtk
  21. I haven't handled the newer models, but have owned and fished older models of both and preferred the Clarus.
  22. How bout an update? How do you like it? I picked one up at the classic sale and love it. I put 20lb braid on it and it feels fluid and connected at all times. It is a shallow spool, so if my 11 year old uses it, I run the risk of having to cut out enough line to render it inoperable for the day. So far my solution has been to not share. I don’t have any experience with Daiwa’s mid range spinning reels as of late, but my assumption is that it falls somewhere between the USDM Tatula and ballistic, but shallow spool. The drag is on the light side, but that’s a non-factor for my use. I also picked up a Damiki 7’ML-XFast on the same sale. Those rods were originally listed around the $200 mark, but picked it up for about $50 for the classic sale. The rod, I really enjoy. It seems to be your run of the mill high Modulus stick with no finish. Has solid Fuji guides and a cheapish foam handle. It’s nowhere near worth $200, but better than any $70 (current TW price) stick I’ve used. It also looks like Damiki may be out of the rod business, so the strong warranty listed on tw’s site is probably not perusable should I need it. I was truly shocked how fast and lively the blank felt initially. I have found that my new favorite application is flinging little keitech paddletails unweighted, and skipping them under trees and lay downs to hook up to little bull bass on beds. Fun for days. I kinda want more. Lol.
  23. I caught one about 10" yesterday myself. No pictures.
  24. It's crap like this that gets folks like PETA all riled up. Then they protest all fishing with things like "oh the humanity". They killing all those fish, yadda-yadda. Those guys should all be fined, rods/reels/tackle/boats seized, licenses (fishing) revoked, (drivers) suspended. 114 days in jail for each guy.
  25. Most of the fishermen I know of here in So. Flo pretty much follow the same routine below. I catch and release 100% of the LMB I catch I catch and release most of the Peacocks I land, though I'll eat one every year or two. I do not release any of the snakeheads I catch. They either get filleted and eaten by us or are given away (dead of course) to those in need. A few I feed to the vultures that sometimes watch us fish. The carcasses are used under my tropical fruit tree collection as fertilizer 🙂
  26. A #2 split ring is the size you need. Try experimenting with bending the end of the blade to get better vibration. I bend all of mine that I make with the split rings and get much better vibration and faster start up that way.
