  2. I too prefer the smaller size of the SLX over my K's. Try the Curado 70.
  3. What a weird sale. So it's 20% off if you buy a minimum of $50, and 20% off if you buy $100, but less than 20% if you buy between $50 and $100. Like only 10% off if you buy $99.
  4. That was the bag I used last summer! The cool part about that bag is the two velcro straps in the back can hang on your wading belt, taking some weight off your shoulder.
  5. I'm down from 228 to 212 since the first of the year with diet and excercise..including a pushup program (up to 1600 total right now) and some weights. Long way to go but I can tell a huge difference in the way I feel. Fishing all day is much easier.:)
  6. That’s the hope... I give her a lot of credit - she very willingly took care of our 3 kids many times when I went off with my dad or buddies on numerous fishing trips. Now the nest is empty, so hopefully more of she and I getting out. Always a good sign when she actually asked to go and talked a little trash on the boat as she out-fished me First time I got her out on the “PVB.” She had mixed feelings at the time when I bought it while paying for 3 kids in college... but she raved about it last night... Progress..! She caught a couple great fish... I cracked up when I told her she could use any lure she wanted... And she picked a pink Caffeine Shad because it matched her lipstick... but I can’t argue with the results!
  7. Why do we drive on the Parkway and park on the Driveway?
  8. Carhartt T-Shirt and plenty of sunscreen and bug repellent. If I had to wear long sleeves it would be a button up like @Catt I always wear jeans and boots when bank fishing even in 100 degree heat. It's more for ticks than sun protection. Not the ideal wardrobe for staying cool by any means. When it gets that hot I bring plenty of water and find shady spots to fish.
  9. The novelty is what is gonna get me to buy it. The times I tie it to a string in the mailbox or the kids towel drawer are gonna be worth the 9 bucks for me.
  10. I would recommend the Lew's Custom Pro Speed Spin. 11+1 Stainless steel ball bearings, Aluminum body and sideplate with flush and drain port, C60 Carbon skeletal rotor with fat aluminum bail wire, Lightweight double anodized knurled (braid ready) aluminum spool, Smooth sealed carbon multi-disc drag system, Aluminum handle with Winn Dri-Tac knob, 6.2:1 gear ratio. All that and it looks fantastic as well. It's my favorite spinning reel.
  11. The Curado DC version is larger (width), but it's only on the handle side, so it really doesn't impact the palming side. Curado 70 would fit the bill too.
  12. Let's get a couple other things straight. Because science!
  13. I got this 25" pickerel to the kayak in very thick Lily pads using 65 # braid. I would definitely up your line considering you know the Pike are hitting
  14. Have you ever heard of the expression about comparing apples to apples? I can cut a flat worm in half and it will wriggle around but both sections will live. Should I expect the same behavior if I chopped some bird in half? Do you think all living things have the same brain capacity? Is it all the researchers that are bought and paid for or just the ones regarding fish feeling pain?
  15. The in fisherman crew has produced at least three guys on the list. Doug Stange, Al Lindner & Larry Dahlberg.
  16. The Aldebaran is pretty much the king of small and light if you are a Shimano guy. If you need more line capacity, the Chronarch and Metanium MGL's are phenomenal reels as well.
  17. Yea, that's the BooYah JR. Not going to use it as every other time I use a brand new BY frog, it's gone. Record is, 3 days I had a BY frog... haha I'll trim it. Thank you!
  18. Thanks for the advice! I didn't know if there was a correct way or if it didn't matter. I appreciate the advice.
  19. You don't seem to understand that fish are not mammals. Do some research rather than make asine statements!
  20. If you want smooth reel, you might have to turn to Daiwa. The new tatula 100 might fit you. If you want to stay with shimano then you have no choice but to get Bantam MGL or 19 Antares.
  21. The one on the far right needs a trim! I would 3/4-1" of the strands off
  22. Today
  23. they are all decent. I like my Simms ones but haven't tried Huk yet. key is a decent fit for me since the materials from all of them are pretty similar.
  24. Imagine if, like fish, a dog could move freely and do all of its normal activities but didn't have a voice. Then imagine sticking a hook in the dog's back. He's going to flail around and run around and bite at the wound because it hurts and he's confused. Now give a fish a voice. You think he's going to stay silent when you hook him? Just because fish don't have arms, legs, necks, or a voice doesn't mean they're not clearly expressing pain. They're doing it how they know. The only way they know. "swimming away" which while in midair it just looks like "flopping". Come on y'all are smarter than this. Researchers, media outlets, and pros of all sorts in all sports always have strings attached to their arms and a deep pocket of cash to reach into if they say what someone wants them to say or hear what someone wants them to hear.
  25. I’m planning to fish the Susky this weekend anywhere between Hoover Island boat ramp down to Marysville including the Juniata. Any updates on the river conditions and how the fishing has been overall, lures used, times etc would be greatly appreciated.
