  2. Best lakes in the KC area for a kayak? Trying to go out this weekend
  3. Glenn's already posted a good one...print it out and put it in a 3-ring binder. Or print it half-size and it fits into a Franklin-Covey Classic size...which is what I did. https://www.bassresource.com/fish/fishing_log.html
  4. I'm looking to start logging catches I've made for bass over 14in. I'm pretty set on doing it in excel, and not really looking to use any apps (I don't even like to remember my phone exists while i fish🙄). Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to set it up.. should I make different sheets for different locations or do it by year, etc. If anyone has any suggestions on how to set one up or some good tips on it or even a file template I could look at I'd greatly appreciate it!
  5. New high end Shimano Reels (Metanium and up), maybe a Steez. Shimano Expride casting rods, G. Loomis GLX/NRX casting rods.
  6. I have 2 Steez EX reels, an XS and HS looking to sell together for $440 The XS is scuffed on the top of the reel and has a good bit of rash would consider 7/10 but is still good mechanically, the HS is in excellent condition, would consider 9.5/10. The XS is for sale for 220tyd and the HS is only for sale with the XS
  7. I do when it's overcast and at least mid-May(in Iowa). I feel like the "buzzer" type baits, be it toads, buzzbaits, whopper ploppers, Devil Horses, etc, have a tendency to garner bites all day. Major reaction bite baits. Not so much with walking/popping baits in my experience. Those are more of a timing deal, in my mind.
  8. Got out from 8:30 til.2 today. Got 10 -1 on a chatterbait and 9 on a jig with the best two weighing 3-2 And this one at 4-13
  9. I want to try these. Do you fish it like a normal worm? I usually fish shallow around timber.
  10. I use spinning gear 95% of the time. I only use casting gear when fishing serious slop. I should mention that I bank fish probably 75% of the time, so casting distance is important to me. I also fish for nearly everything that swims around here, so I like to have setups that are versatile. I don't have any problems hooking fish and keeping them pinned with medium power spinning rods. The only issue I ever run into is having a lack of leverage to keep fish out of cover when they head for a blowdown or thick weeds.
  11. Recently bought some other reels so letting this one go, the reel is in excellent condition both cosmetically and mechanically. The cast control cap was anodized all black. Sorry the boca bearings shown in the picture do not come with the reel, only stock bearings will come with the reel. I have the box, oil, papers, etc. PayPal only, no trades please, lower 48 only. $125 TYD
  12. Yah, we got pretty lucky at the outlet. With that crazy/strong wind coming from the north/nw, we actually found a head of wipers at the west side of the outlet where that point is on the main channel. They were fairly shallow to, maybe 3-5 feet and were ONLY hitting our flicker shads. Very strange since we were the only ones fishing the outlet during that time. However, that wind was super crazy and has having a hell of time keeping the boat pointed in the correct direction. Not having spot lock or anything like that was brutal. My foot/calf muscle was actually a little sore with dealing with the foot controller for about 2 hours in that wind.
  13. Reduce the file size of your photos. Plenty of online sites to do it for you
  14. Today
  15. Those peewee bats make great fish clubs for tuna.
  16. Next time I go float for river fish, it's a high likelihood that I'll never pick up a jig rod.
  17. As a lifetime member of BASS, I am partial to taking their side on decisions they make about the organization & tournaments. That said, I really believed they blew it with this decision. I have been a huge proponent of having the 50th Classic back at Lake Mead. Returning full circle to the lake that was the first home to the Classic, to a lake the Elite series has never (& probably will never) fish and a lake that is unique compared to most Classic designations should have reason enough to choose Mead & Las Vegas as the site. But there is another reason, one of symbolism, that should have driven this decision towards Mead instead of any other locale. The 1971 Classic was a way for a new organization to burst on the public radar, to introduce its competitors to those who may be interested in fishing, but not followers of tournament fishing. With the changes to the Elite series, the 2020 Classic will also feature many names that the casual observer doesn't yet know. The 2020 Classic could have been special if it was treated as a rebirth of both the organization and the tournament. Focus would have been on the first Classic, the current Classic and what has changed in that time. It would have given this new set of anglers a chance to help the organization start anew. Instead, by choosing Gunterville & Birmingham, a great bass lake full of folks who are knowledgeable about the sport, the focus for the casual observers will be less on the lake and more on why all the famous names they know aren't fishing it this year. If the bite is tough and the numbers are low, many will point and say that the new anglers can't yet fish under Classic pressure like the old anglers could. I know BASS was founded in Alabama and there isn't near the support out West that there is in the South. But this is the 50th Classic, not the 50th year of BASS. This tournament should cause reminiscing about the 1st Classic, not the one held in 2014. I know it is too late, there is no way that BASS would ever change the location after announcing it. It is just a shame that they wiffed on this pitch.
  18. I only have a 14 ft Jon boat with a 40lb thrust trolling motor and a 325lb limit. Its' wobbly with just me in it and can't handle the current of the mighty Susquehanna. 🎣
  19. Read the G. Loomis warranty offered; "life of the original owner". Tom
  20. Does anybody throw a buzzbait or topwater all day?
  21. You have the rod you have the warranty is my understanding.
  22. I second the Gammy Octopus Hook. I'm sure both the circle and normal style would work but I usually just go with the normal version.
  23. I switched over to Dobyns rods because of Gary's attention to the balance of a rod. Never handled a tip heavy Dobyns rod.
