  1. Past hour
  2. I will wade where I can, if I am in the mood to do so, usually if there's a hard sandy bottom. Unfortunately, most of the reservoirs where I fish are mush and suck your shoes off, LOL. We also have a lot of snakes, and water mocs are common here, less-seen are copperheads, but they're around, I've seen them. Fortunately, no gators. There are river otters and beavers, too. Had the bahookie scared outta me a few times with beavers sneaking up on me and slapping their tail on the water. Otters are curious critters.
  3. Guys, thank you so much for the replies, they are very encouraging. If you want to know the guides' names just private message me. I am using two different guides. Again, thanks!
  4. The trailer looks like it's been in salt water and needs work, tires etc. Not familiar with the boat brand it looks riveted not welded and unknown hull thickness or weight. The home made pedistal box may be a problem depending on how you fish, standing or sitting. Count on replacing the batteries and include that in your offer. Tom
  5. Got a buddy that swore he didn't want to learn to use a baitcaster based on bad experience with his first setup. I cautioned him that spinning rods typically run a little softer so if he wanted one rod to do 'it all,' we'd better go to Cabelas and press a few tips against the floor. The Curado was definitely the medium heaviest that we tested, and we tested a fair amount of them. I think it would handle a 3/8 jig especially if it isn't equipped with a big gnarly hook. How does she feel about braid? That would help quite a bit as well. You don't necessarily need a bigger reel for a good hook set. 10 lbs of drag should be plenty.
  6. Does that transfer ownership if someone buys it from a private sale though?
  7. The nice thing about a G Loomis rod is it comes with peace of mind with their warranty. That rod breaks for any reason and for $75 or $100 you get a brand new rod shipped to you.
  8. That's around what I normally spend for a rod too! Thanks I was looking at those too, but never got my hands on one to check for myself.
  9. Congrats on the W, you guys had some studs in that bag! Also, thank you for the beer post weigh-in... It was MUCH needed after getting our ***** kicked all day hahah
  10. As a kid I would wade fish and swim all the time. Snakes always scared more than gators. We still swim and ski at Ross Barnett all summer long but stay in the areas where gators are less prevalent. The more “fishy” areas have 8-12 footers everywhere though. People wade for crappie at Grenada Lake all year long. They dont have as many gators up there though.
  11. They already have a meme for you:
  12. I have had two which have been passed forward. Perhaps the #1 rod that I have ever owned at its pricing point.
  13. You could get her a daiwa aird x mh and a daiwa revros reel. $100 combo that fishes way above its price
  14. That's the thing to do. When you get back out make sure to pull the plug to make sure it's not taking on any water. I'm sure it's not, but you never know. I would say that's a good price for all that. It looks like a nice boat.
  15. Today
  16. Now that's funny right there!!!
  17. Seems like a most guys catch fish when they are fishing!
  18. I should just call into work all week then right ? I mean I think that’s a valid excuse to my boss.. “why did you call in this week?” Well ya see ! 6 pounders are hitting !
  19. Recently sent a Shimano Stella 2500FS in for service. Turnaround time was about a week and the charge was -$0- My, my, my...
  20. Brand new ! Shimano Zodias rod , omg this thing is light weight and sensitive , feels like tremors going down the rod , can’t wsit to truly test it out this week. Using it for jigs , T rigs and spinnerbaits.
  21. I bought one before they sold out on TW. I love it. Super smooth. I wish I could get another at the sale price of $110.
  22. I posted this on a previous thread about barometric pressure. I've read all the research on barometric pressure, water temperatures, moon phases, length of sunlight, weather & so on. This pre-spawn has debunked every single one! Everywhere the bass should have been they weren't & everywhere the shouldn't have been they were. Everything they should have been doing they weren't & everything shouldn't have been doing they were. The guys that were successful ignored all of that & simply went fishing!
  23. I have a Major Craft NAS-WJ-701MH spinning rod for your application, $120. Tom
  24. My wife has a MHF baitcaster, but she invariably uses her 7' MHF Daiwa spinning rod with 3500 size reel, spooled with 20#PP, more often for the exact presentations you list above. In fact, she was setting the hook just fine with frogs on it last fall....much to my surprise
