  1. Past hour
  2. @Logan S thanks so much for the info! Very interested. I will be in touch for sure!
  3. Are you asking for bait casting advice or if you need a baitcaster ? I like playing with different types of tackle as part of the experience. There’s spinning tackle to do about anything you want if that’s your preference.
  4. $149 for a 7' med at Sierra trading post. https://www.sierra.com/abu-garcia-fantasista-regista-spinning-rod-1-piece-7-medium~p~310am/ I don't know anything about them.
  5. greentrout. try this web site and watch all the works for the derby horses. www.xbtv.com
  6. Not me ....I fish the same crystal clear lake all summer long and use the same color for everything , green pumpkin or sprayed grass if the company makes that color
  7. I like it. I can’t quite make out the model but how do you like it.
  8. I bought a few Carbonlite 2.0 rods and reels earlier this year as a way to save my budget. I've enjoyed them. I got the 7' medium, mh, and heavy. They have performed well. I even took them to Louisiana for redfish, just to give them a test. Wouldn't be the worst introductory BC rig.
  9. I make the PB&J then grill it. somtimes i add bacon. sometime 3 slice of bread PB on one. jelly on one butter on the 3rd. and once in a while slice a banana w/ the PB&J. and some times a Peanut butter cream pie!!
  10. Problem is....I posted the link for the great deal, now they have nothing left! 😂. I sent them an email asking when they would get more in, haven’t heard yet! I did find them somewhere else for $143 with a discount. I will be fishing from a boat. I know there is better higher $$ equipment out there, however I really believe I need to “walk before I run here!” This equipment will most definitely be moved to backup/extras down the road when I upgrade, but I want to upgrade knowing why I’m upgrading, not just buying it because it looks cool! In my original rod thread I received great advice on higher quality equipment, and I will get there, just believe I need to spend less to learn what techniques I prefer and then I will invest in those techniques.
  11. Oh, my judgment is bad for measurement but I’d say close to 50-feet at most, usually it’s less. With my spinners I’d spin slow with quick jumps in between, but the reel requires I return fairly fast to get keep the blade moving. I wouldn’t put it past me to say my technique sucks and it’s my fault and not the reels. Hah
  12. If you are not getting good distance with 4 # braid, something is seriously wrong. Any reel, with a 7 foot rod and 4 # braid, should cast very well. I just don't know what to propose to fix cast distance.
  13. Bomo still has giant largemouth in it 5-8 lbers are caught there every year. You can see some of them if you look up the Vermont Master Angler Program..... If you are fishing from shore give Kent Pond a try. It’s not far from Woodstock and you can walk along the entire dam casting for bass.
  14. Today
  15. I'll try, but I just finished my first algebra course (still fairly basic) so I can't promise that I'll be able to solve it if it's complicated (I'll do my best though) I can also try to ask my brother if I can't figure it out because he's doing precalculus right now and has a vast wealth of algebraic knowledge indeed. 😄
  16. I think this is an important factor to keep in mind. If you're scared to throw a lure in a certain spot because it's so expensive, it loses a lot of value.
  17. That Sahara should work just fine for that purpose. I personally use mono on UL setups, but I used several different superlines for about 5 years. I like mono because I can see to tie it. 😁😁 When you say your casts "don't get much distance", what exactly is the distance you're getting? As for the retrieve ratio, it's just fine. An UL is made to mimic small denizens of the water, and small denizens of the water don't race around madly. jj
  18. I've never fished a high end rod, but I have felt bites with my finger that didn't even come close to affecting my rod in any way. This is most common when I'm using enough slack to get the most vertical fall possible.
  19. As a new person I'd suggest you stay with rods and reels in your price range from Shimano or Daiwa. Over time you'll branch out with other manufacturers.
  20. I agree, personally I'd grab a few of the Slx combos from Alf as they are great value and great quality too.
  21. He was looking for something faster than the Sahara 1000. The President 20 is much slower at only 20.2 IPT and if the Summit compares to the other '25' spinning reels, it's not much faster at around 22 IPT. Need to hit the 30 or 35s from Pflueger to get faster than the 27 IPT of the Sahara.
  22. For sub division lakes I google the information from the home owners association. That usually says if fishing is allowed and who can fish there. Other than that it’s google maps.
  23. Yes, I forgot to mention I’m using 4-Pound Fireline braid. Thank you for all your helpful replies. These President reels are quite nice for their price.
  24. We are in the middle of the spawn period in the SoCal lakes you mentioned with the exception of Casitas is in mostly post spawn with some bed fish. post spawn bass are very stressed from spawning and rarely chase fast moving lures, slower lures are far more effective....think Senko's. The slip shot rig (finesse c- rig) is a very good presentation from shore, search "slip shot rig". Tom
