  1. Past hour
  2. Those are gen 2 alright, the best reel seat in my opinion. It would get some used to with bare blank, but the most comfortable you would ever feel. It has nice blank, light and pretty crispy. I would try it with LC 78 or rapala HS 08 also your choic of spook or whopper plopped 90
  3. I also like vmc's weedless wacky jig head, post spawn thru fall on non-senkos.
  4. I bought a Dobyns Champion, with cork at the end of last season to throw Chatters. It just seemed slippery to me. Felt like I had to hang on tighter. I assume that is average cork or a little better. I agree with the aged cork and battle scars. Seems to have better grip too. Maybe I just need to fish more! I do have summers off.........Mmmmm thanks guys. Just wanted to see if others had the same ideas with it. Jbsoonerfan, I do like my Winn grips a lot!
  5. How's the water temp at this impoundment? Beds is full swing?
  6. One of the best things you could do would be to join a local club as a non-boater. You'll learn a ton!
  7. I buy a rod based on two things: Is it the power and action I want and is it in my budget. The grip material is immaterial to me...both do the job. Right now I have 4 EVA and 1 Cork, and it really doesn't matter.
  8. What is everyone's favorite method to find bass during the spawn? Many different stages of the spawn and it all doesn't happen at once. Weather is a huge factor when your trying to figure out what stage the majority of the fish are in and the heavy rains and dirty water doesn't help any. I know personally that I try to follow the fish and study my map all season long. I am fortunate to not only work at a Marina part time but also as a retired Marine I get to spend lots of time on the water.
  9. Clean it up with a mild soap, let it dry, then seal it with U40. But personally, if I bought a Fury, I wouldn't expect much out of the cork. Gotta be somewhat realistic.
  10. If you have issues breaking bills on the 110's and fish around rocks/docks/etc...But don't want to give up on the 110, try the 110-FX model. The folding lip is much more durable, at least in my experience, and holds up well to those tasks. The standard 110 is my go-to jerkbait, but if I'm fishing shallower than normal or around rocks/docks I'll usually tie on the FX. That folding lip thing is pretty cool in the wind too, usually stays straight as a bullet on casts...Not as much tumbling. I actually the love the stock hooks on the 110's, but they are definitely light wire and do bend fairly easily. I bought a ton of replacements in bulk from MB-USA a few year back and just replace as needed. Unfortunately, I don't believe they sell their trebles in bulk from the factory anymore. FWIW I don't think I've heard of MB declining to replace broken bill 110's until reading this thread. I've had 2 replaced and know several others that have had them replaced as well.
  11. I just picked up a SLX 6'10" Medium with SLX 150HG reel for jerkbait fishing. Got it for $125.99 shipped! Can't beat that deal. Either a rod or reel for $26... I believe TacticalBassin recommended this combo for jerkbait fishing.
  12. Yesterday
  13. So I’ve had my Dobyns fury series rod for a little over a month and have only used it maybe 6 times and the top of the cork handle is already chipped away a bit. I expected more out of this brand. My $50 lews cork handle is still in perfect condition.
  14. Good to know, I've actually been having a hard time with the chatterbait blade not starting or just stopping on retrieve.
  15. Recieved a brand new Savage Gear 3d snake 12" and it was broke in the package. Emailed Savage and got a quick response. They ask for photos and my address. Sent photos and info to them. That was over two months ago. I've emailed the guy I dealt with 3 times and received no further correspondence. Poor customer service in my eyes for a $27 lure.
  16. The Bassman

    Fish Eyes

You gotta wonder what someone who isn't familiar with bass fishing jargon would think of this.
  17. cork only for me. when I started fishing hardcore 20+ years ago, good rods had cork, cheap rods had black foam. I just can't get passed the connotation lol
  18. I think there are still a lot of hurt feelings because of all the anglers leaving. All three tours are trying to capitalize on their strengths. I read some comments where people were upset that MLF didn't want their anglers at other trails expos. That seems obvious to me. I wouldn't expect BASS or FLW to send their stars to MLF events to help them. I really hope all 3 tours do well. I love watching all 3 so I feel like I am the winner. MLF really is a different format and business plan. TV and live streaming are where the big money is made. I have a hard time believing that the 80 anglers who went to MLF are trying to ruin bass fishing for the average angler. For all these conspiracy theories to be believable you would have to convince me that guys like KVD, Mark Davis, Shaw Grigsby, and others are trying to kill club level fishing. I don't buy it.
  19. The majority of my rods are cork but I really don't care either way. If they were the same exact rods in every other way but with eva instead of cork I would have still bought them.
  20. Decided to try a local lake for the first time in 2019. After catching dinks all day, I finally caught a decent fish. it hit a ned rig.it was 18 inches long and weighed 3lb. 1oz.
  21. Looking to add a fish finder to my boat. want to spend around 600 bucks. The Lowrance Elite Ti2 7 looks promising. I had a couple questions that Ive had a hard time finding answers for. 1.) Is spending an extra 150 worth it for Active Imaging over the standard HDI transducer. I should mention i usually fish smaller lakes, no more than 30 feet deep. I also plan on attaching the transducer to the trolling motor ( Minn Kota powerdrive v2). 2.) I have read that a tablet can be connected to the Elite Ti2 and duplicate the screen? If so, that would be handy for a co angler in the back of the boat with a cheap tablet. 3.)
  22. I think they are gen two. Cork grips. You telling me I have something to be real excited about?! I thought it was a steal at $75 a piece! They are 6'6" though and I just bought two LTB 7' mf so it almost seems redundant if these won't work as I was hoping for jerks and topwater up to 3/8 or 1/2 ounce.
  23. Maybe but i'd bet they re cheaper than losing lots of baits. I honestly can't remember the last time I lost one in the river

    Fish Eyes

I agree with all that, and I think even with a suspending jerkbait, if it doesn't move right, it's not going to get bit. And in most situations, the fish won't be able to even see the eyes on the bait. The way I see it, you don't want anything on your bait that tells the fish NOT to bite it. It's not so important that a lure be totally realistic, but it's very important that the lure doesn't send a bad signal to the fish. If that makes any sense. So I don't see why the luremakers wouldn't make the eyes right. And yeah, the eyes, like on the SPRO, are totally for the fishermen.
  25. Not if you live in Hawaii All kidding aside, I got alot of good info from the videos, articles etc. I love to see how the bait monkey is spending our hard earned cash.
  26. Received my order already! They sent me two PopMax instead of one of each. Doesn’t seem worth the hassle to send one back for a Pop-X. The dark sleepers are smaller than I expected.
