  2. There are legal terms such as expressed warranty, and implied warranty. You're confusing the two, since Phenix explicitly states their expressed warranty. There is no implied warranty and you're basically upset that their expressed warranty does not correlate with what you would expect as an implied warranty. Amirite?
  3. Sounds like a fun morning! I caught some this morning too, on a frog and buzzbait. 😎. It sounds to me like you high sticked the rod. It’s common to break a rod landing the fish bringing the rod very high, super easy to do by mistake. If you use the entire rod to lift the fish from the water it’s much lass likely to cause a problem. Yes, a bend beyond 90 degrees creates a lot of stress on a graphite blank. Any graphite rod is subject to break in that manner. Sorry it happened. 😕
  4. Well then my question might be what "technique" are these reels best suited for?
  5. ^^ 1st post i like to know what the barometer is doing too ...
  6. Shakey is only ever used on bigger water, never in ponds, though I know guys who do well with it locally in hard bottomed (clean) pits. Mushroom is mostly around riprap or on hard bottom areas with little muck or weeds like in early spring while the water is still cold, though it can be a killer swim along weed lines later in the year. Slider and wacky jig head are nearly interchangeable, but Slider gets the nod when weedlessness comes into play or with long horizontal casts, while wacky jig head works almost anywhere, anytime. It’s especially suited for a slower presentation (fronts), when sight fishing bass in shallow water, spring time, or targeting isolated cover like just small clumps of weeds.

  8. Me either . I suffocate in them . I use plenty of sun block sp50.
  9. Those lengthy, twisty conveyor belts are hard on long packages and jam up sometimes. The rods should be marked for hand sorting or something. I'm waiting on a nice rod to be delivered from a reputable tackle shop and I'm still concerned that the shipper will mess it up somehow. I know, we should stop ordering rods and just order fish.
  10. Hi all, hope everyone is having a nice weekend, I am in Attleboro Ma. About 5 miles from Gillette stadium and 3 miles from the RI boarder. It is going to be close to 100 deg this weekend. This morning got up early no fish finder, no camera set up for photos. Going lo tech and heading to the pond right down the street from my house. Quick couple of hours. Don't need a camera because I always catch fish here but always small. Big trout here but small bass. Ha! 6am 7'1" med St Croix Mojo Bass, 12lb Pline floroclear 1/4 oz tungsten shakey head w/ Zoom shakey head worm wtrmln red. Fishing a shaded shoreline. A 15-20 lb snapping turtle comes swimming by. I move down the bank further. I get a good bite right off the bank, 2 pound bass wow! that is nice for this pond. 2 minutes later another bass about the same size. So I am in a kayak and when I catch a fish I reel in till about 5' of line is out, guide the fish to the left side of the boat, switch hands, and arch the rod/line over my head and lip the fish while it is still in the water. As little stress as possible on the blank. Well as I am about to lip this bass something was following it, I thought it was another bass but as it came out of the mirky depths it was a snapper trying to eat the fish that was on my line. I quickly steered the fish away from the turtle to the front of the kayak, got a better hold of my rod and lifted the bass to the other side of the boat but could still see the turtle below. So I winched the fish in over my boat he shook and the rod tip snapped. I did land the fish. It was great day, caught my first fish on chatter bait, caught my first fish on buzz bait. Which was also my first top water fish. Awesome. So I have read a lot on this site about blanks, how they are not really built to bend beyond 90 deg. Did I subject this rod to too much? I am in southern New England, I don't catch giant bass. A giant bass is 4 pounds. This fish might not have even been 2lbs. Do I really need to be more careful? Higher end blanks tend to be even more fragile? Is a 130.00$ rod a high end blank? I loved this rod and plan on getting another. I just bought the rod in January, I will see if BPS will take care of me, I think they will.
  11. The Jupiter should be 7'6" length. Jupiter is made by Daiwa only for Walmart. It sells for about $80. I have a 7' MH. Not the best obviously, but decent for the price. Mine stays in Florida for my yearly visits. I am thinking the Curado 7.0 may be a 200E, but I am not a Shimano guru so don't know what other models came in an even 7.0 ratio. If it is a 200E, then you have a very nice reel. As Scott said, gear ratios often are selected for technique...not a rod. Of course a rod can be selected for a specific technique so there is that. 6'6" or 7' MH rods are often suggested for an all around rod. A 6.4 ratio is a good all around ratio for many. Never used a Black Max rod (or reel), but they are low cost rods. A Black Max rod and reel combo can be purchased for less than $75. Could be better quality rods would make you happier. Both reels are nice. If you want to try another couple rods, but keep the price low, the Daiwa Aird X (about $55) is very nice for the price....so I've read. There are several rods that are very nice in the $100-$110 range if you can spend more.
  12. But the bottom line is, Has anyone caught fish on it ?
  13. Congratulations @FryDog62 to Mrs FryDog on a couple of extremely solid fish! Looks like you may have found a ringer of a tournament partner. When I have asked Mrs B to go fishing, she’d replied “I landed the biggest fish of my life over 30 years ago, what more do I have to prove?” At that point what more can I say....
  14. Columbia PFG pants and shirts
  15. Always used a 1/4 ounce shot about 6 to 8 inches above the craw. That way he has room to move a little. When he sees a bass he can react normally.
  16. As others have said many times... Kastking is a marketing company not a fishing company... which leads me to believe that yes they do sell a ton of rods. They just don't sell a lot of rods to people here maybe because we tried their reels and they are junk. These rods are new and people still have a bad taste in their mouth. Thanks for letting us know the rods are indeed good. You are the first I have seen with one and I too would like to check one out. The technique designation is another marketing tool that you see with most bass rod makers. It allows someone new to the industry a guide for what they want to do and also make them think they need 8 setups to catch bass... which most of us do
  17. I will take them PM me paypal information
  18. That should work fine. That's a common way to fish craws. I try to use as light of a weight as I can while still getting it to the bottom. As long as you dont have much current you should be golden. As far as taking off the claws goes, I have heard the same thing but I think its BS. They eat craws on their own, claws and all. Those small 2.5-3 inch craws I use for bait are defenseless against a bass. I dont think the claws make a bass look twice. I have always left the claws on and have had some really good days. I think I'm going to get some craws sometime to use. I haven't done it in several years.
  19. When I got into club fishing I was the only worm'n guy in the club . Fishing in the back of a boat my worm of choice was a six inch jelly worm and 1/4 ounce weight . I had to fish fast and effectively . One two day event i was in the back of the boat while the driver zoomed down the bank rapid firing spinnerbaits . I smoked him and finished 1st. Oh , this dude was mad . Too this day I still fish worms faster than most . I keep enough weight on it to keep it on the bottom and hop it back quickly . If I'm fishing brush I often hop it all the way to the boat . I think at times the bass follow it and hit it away from the cover .
  20. Today
  21. @papo, hope you used PayPal bruh. Wish you luck in either getting the rod or a resolution in your favor...
