  1. Past hour
  2. Defintiely reach out to both. Seaguar needs to know what went wrong, and Tacklewarehouse can make good on the credit/return. Sorry you didn't get to experience the line the way it's supposed to be.
  3. I fish a 4/0 ewg on the super fluke and a 3/0 ewg on the junior
  4. I use a light wire 4/0 offset EWG. I often add a small barrel swivel 12" before the bait to get it to run a couple feet down
  5. Me either. I handled some of the elites in store but haven't fished em. With that said, they are really nice rods. I would spend the extra $30 over the Tatula and get the elite. I would maybe go with the H rod also. I usually throw a 1/4 oz jig with a trailer and it close to 3/4 oz total weight. I run the MH with that setup without issues but any heavier and I would most likely go up a rod power.
  6. BPS currently has on sale a "Bass Pro Shops AM24 Auto/Manual Inflatable Life Vest". I'm looking for a low profile life vest as I currently fish out of a small Pond Prowler/Bass Raider type boat. I always wear my PFD, currently a bulky, standard life vest. It's cumbersome but I'm not willing to go out unless I'm actually wearing it (fish a reservoir where there can be some decent & random wind). Safety First. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-am24-auto-manual-inflatable-life-vest?cm_sp=GoOdAMLfVsMay2019_CFM So this looks like a nice, comfortable profile to wear while fishing. I'm willing to spend the $$ for it, I was just hoping to get some feedback about these life vests. Are there any considerations I should keep in mind as I'll be wearing it the entire time fishing? How easy or difficult are these pull handles in the event I accidentally snag it on something? Things like that. Additionally, weighing in at 230 lbs, I want to make sure I get the appropriate vest. I notice in the description it says "USCG-approved Type V with Type III performance" ... Can anyone roughly translate that so I can purchase with peace of mind? The chest sizing on this does fit me. Any/all feedback appreciated.
  7. Fishing The Beds Pros and Cons By Ronald F. Dodson, Ph.D. In general Charlie felt that fishing for bedding fish would not negatively impact a lake. There are several reasons for this assumption. For starters even in a clear-water lake there are, in theory, a large number of bass that should spawn and never be subject to fishing pressure by being found by the fisherman. The exception here is if the lake is very small or there is extensive repetitious pressure in a small area. Those conditions can put real stress on the spawning population by having them either selectively removed if people catch and keep the spawning bass or simply put the bass under repetitious physiological shock from multiple harassment or hook sets. https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/spawning_bass_bed.html have public access to some lakes smaller than 200 acres ... some smaller than 100 acres ... 50 acres ... good fishing ...
  8. I prefer a 2/0 for the super fluke. I don't often fish the junior. Standard EWG, typically on mono, as braid and flouro seem to affect the lure's movement to me. I do like to use either the junior or the swimmer modal as a trailer for chatterbaits, swimjigs and spinnerbaits.
  9. I’ll cast my vote for largemouth based on the jaw alone. It extends way beyond the eye and is clearly visible in the second photo.
  10. I know everyone has their own preferences and flavor when it comes to what they throw. I am comfortable with most of your "standard rigs," but I struggle with lures that others excel with. For example, I cannot seem to buy a fish with a brush hog, but have no problems with a rage structure bug(T-rigged on both). Also, have never had any success on a C-Rig, but I have had success with a split shot pinched on my line 12-18 inches above a weightless plastic. Jigs have never been difficult for me, but not very good with a lipless crankbait. Does anyone have similar experience? I do try and fish with the lures I struggle with, especially if I know people are having success with them at the same places I fish, just cannot seem to have any success.
  11. I had a bad spool of SpiderWire stealth that did that.
  12. This is Seaguar SmackDown the gray braid I just got it from tackle warehouse a couple days ago. I contacted Seaguar and they told me to get a hold of their customer support department. Tackle warehouse will of course refund my money.
  13. I own the SLXC72H for a few weeks and tried casting with it a little bit in my yard. I frogged with a Quantum Team KVD 6'10" before and I think thats the lenght you should be after (6'8"-7'1") if you really Wanna see the difference
  14. I use a 1/0 or 2/0 EWG offset worm hook, same as what one might use for any other Texas rigged plastic. I usually "Texpose" them, as I am mostly working them on top where it's relatively clear of vegetation. I don't weight mine often, and if I do, it's only a 1/32 or 1/16 oz Water Gremlin Bull Shot sinker right against the hook eye. I want to be able to work the bait slowly if I have to, and still keep it on or near the top. I don't use anything larger than a 2/0 hook; I think anything larger impedes the bait's movement too much. I have 'nose hooked' them before with an octopus style hook. It gives them more action, but the hookup ratio suffers. Flukes catch a lot of fish. For me, they are a good bait for catching numbers, but none of my largest fish have come off of a Fluke.
  15. Is that supposed to be grey? Man, that doesn't look the Smackdown I've used.
  16. Most of us start out fishing from the bank and shoreline aquatic plants (weeds) become a problem during the summer period. You usually have some open water or a few open water pockets. My 1st lure was a surface weedless spoon Hawiian Wiggler #3 a skirted spoon that swam near the surface and would slide over the top of mats. The Jognson Silver Minnow weedless spoon is still made with a similar action but doesn't have a skirt. The Nemire Red Ripper spoon is weedless and has a short skirt plus a rattle that works good as a sliding on top of mats and swimming in open water pockets like the old #3 Wiggler. Tom
  17. I’ve worn out my search engines trying to find a consensus, so I figured I would start a new conversation. This summer has been dedicated to learning to use the lures that everyone Uses but I never have. So, what hook/setup does everyone use for the Super Fluke and Super Fluke Jr? I’m intending on going weightless, but totally open to options. Again: I have read through the previous posts that I could find, but it seemed like there was never a clear answer. Sorry if this is redundant! Thanks in advance!
  18. Got the go ahead to plan a trip to anywhere in the U.S. during the first part of August. I plan on pulling my boat but hiring a guide maybe half a day the first day to get a lay of the land. Looking for some recommendations as to where will be the best place to have a trip of a lifetime (will be celebrating 30th birthday). Thinking that due to the heat in the big largemouth fisheries in the southern states that it might be best to head north to catch some trophy smallies. I've never targeted smallies so there'd be a bit of a learning curve. Would love your suggestions!
  19. So he has a fish fry? Sorry I couldn’t resist. Baby bass is one of my go to Senko colors.
  20. You could always get an elephant. I thought I read some place they along with several other animals have been known to predict earthquakes. Never mind what the other animals are just get the elephant.
  21. Color looks like TUF-Line, Smackdown is gray color. Tom
  22. Today
  23. I find it entertaining. I get bored watching guys not catch fish. I want to see guys break a lake down and try to find the fish. I like seeing the tension of trying to make the cut. It's fun.
  24. Bass is one thing. Them sac's well that's diffrent lmao.
  25. How old is that line? It looks like it has seen a lot of use.
  26. That doesn't look like Seaguar braid. None of their braid is that color, nor looks like that (where you can see the individual strands).
  27. Hey at least you get a warning. My neck of the woods is expected to sustain a catastrophic 9+ earthquake at any moment. They don't give you time to plan ahead for it. So you have to plan as if it's going to happen today, every day.
