  1. Past hour
  2. I understand that the combination of blades is nearly endless. I think limiting yourself to only a 3/4 oz or 1 oz is a mistake in my opinion.
  3. I have never really kept a record or paid too much attention to be PB’s before. Just rough lengths on my rod as I put a few thread marker spots so I can quickly measure an estimate of the fish on my rod. Anyway I believe I found a pond that I have a good chance of beating the possibly the yellow perch and a better chance of the sunfish record. Sunfish is 12” and yellow perch is 16.50”. I also have a feeling some huge pickerel in there as well. I caught around a 25” pickerel last year. I’ve caught plenty of sunfish at least over 10” and bigger before. I have caught the sunfish with big bass lures before. But the problem is this pond is almost completely untouched. Only access is either a .5 mile portage with canoe/kayak or one of the 3 houses that have paths to it. No shore access as it’s too swampy. I have had my best days here, caught 50+ bass in only an hour or two. One of the places were you can throw almost anything and at least catch a few. I only found this place because I found it in an old fishing book. I only fish it a few times as year as its far away. It would be a shame if more people caught on to this place. Who would reveal your honeyhole for a state record?
  4. I am in the same boat today. Had 3 breakoffs, but mid line, not at knots. It was 10 lb Tatsu on a light caster with NECO rig. Just spooled it last night. 😡
  5. My initial thought was the Owner hooks also. I wondered if the odd shape of the hook was causing leverage when the fish pulls that was too hard on these knots. I may experiment a little with different knots and the Yo-Zuri just to satisfy my curiosity. Thanks for the info.
  6. In the kayak I pack as little as possible. Usually 3 zippered wallets with 5 or 6 bags each for the day. I rarely find myself using more than a few per day.
  7. I had one inexplicable break off with 6lb YZH earlier this year. Still don't know what happened exactly, but what I can tell you is I consistently catch fish with massive amounts of weeds attached to them using 6lb as well as uproot cattails. Sometimes on a snag the stuff just won't break and I get scared I'm going to snap my rod. Seems you got a bad spool.
  8. Good seller and a standup guy! Buy with confidence that an item will be exactly what he says it will be. GLWTS
  9. Man, I'm glad I don't have your problem! Then again, I don't fish tournaments. I carry two colors of my favorite worm, four colors of my favorite craw trailer, four colors of my favorite creature, and four colors of my favorite chatterbait trailer. A total of 16 original bags inside a zippered bag attached to the back of my seat. All other plastics I carry inside a dry bag in the front hatch. Best of luck with your KBF tournaments.
  10. The cold front is supposed to hit Chicago late Saturday night, early Sunday morning and bring rain with it. You should expect a cool down sometime on Sunday.
  11. I would buy a short arm single Colorado spinnerbait and put in a Willow. Those work pretty effectively in deep water.
  12. I had one inexplicable breakoff with Yozuri Hybrid 10# as leader about 10 years ago. Scared me off it for a while, but I've been back for a number of years. That said. I bought some clearance hooks at Walmart - Daiichi. I lost several hooks when fishing. One day, as I was tying on a snell to a worm hook I broke the line as I tightened/tested it. Did it twice and on the third time I paid closer attention. Broke again. But this time I ran my fingers along the hook eye and found it was rough and a snell was rubbing on it. I lost all confidence in the hooks, went back to Gamakatsu and no probs since. That said, I believe a NON-snell knot would have been fine. And as intimated above, the entire package: line, rod/rod rating, reel, drag, all contribute to the experience. If drag is too tight when using lighter line, boom. Disaster.
  13. It was definitely the knots and not abrasion. Two of the three breakoffs weren't near any obstructions. I use 6lb Trilene XL on another rod with the same ratings. I cannot tell you the number of bass I've caught with that rod and I've never had a knot fail. I could very well have done something wrong with the knots but it also has to have something to do with the Yo-Zuri Hybrid in addition to how/what I'm tying. I tie the same way with the Trilene XL. I love the light line stuff! That makes it more challenging!!! I have 20lb Sufix 832 on two other spinning setups. I love the stuff. I use those for T-rigs, Carolina rigs, etc. I'm going to use the 10lb for this because it will be all weightless stuff. Plus I already have two spools of 10lb so I don't have to buy more LOL! 😎
  14. Reports to "Last Roll Call." I received word this afternoon that Vincent Hughes passed away this past Friday. If service to country and community had a face, it would look like him. Vincent Hughes, Vietnam Veteran and retired NYPD Medal of Honor recipient.
  15. H&H Willow Leaf Single Spinner 3/8 oz Hammered Willow Leaf Blade
  16. I never intentionally hurt fish nor do I ever keep them idk what you’re intending here. Im just asking if you drop a fish will it kill them later on or injure them. Thats all.
  17. Today
  18. There may be one but I haven’t seen it.
  19. I let it sink, raise rod, then reel in slack, sometimes twitch it
  20. I put mine on and fished in a cloudless sky. 0 glare. I did not notice the screen at all. No problem seeing the screen with my $20 Wally World polarized glasses. It also cleaned easier than the console unit. Next time I am mad at $50 I will get another.
  21. Thank you Paul, fantastic video by the way.
  22. I'm definitely a hopper and I start working it as soon as it touches down .
  23. The conquest 100 actually feels better in had that my Mets and is far smaller than the 300.
  24. Just make sure the glass anti glare is compatible with your polarized sunglasses. Not much fun taking off the sunglasses to see the sonar display. Tom
  25. Fishing from a kayak, long casts, as defined by @WRB are not as big a concern to me. Not that I don't do long casts (shoreline), or trolling with the yak. Also using shorter rods from 5'9" to 6'6" as I do, long casts are not so much in the arsenal. As mentioned by @A-Jay and others, I will cast as long as I need (or can) to.
