  1. Past hour
  2. For light weight, I like my St. Croix Legend Elite 7' M Fast. I had to look it up but it's 4.1oz and with a Daiwa Steez, it's super light. I can fish it all day and not feel a thing.
  3. I have - Still own a few Simms, some Calelas Guidewear and a bunch of Columbia items. I do wear the Columbia PFG pants in Mexico routinely but given a choice I prefer and reach for the HUG Gear (tops & outer wear) over the others every time. Shirts run a little big though so going down a size may be in order. Good Luck A-Jay
  4. On sale now for $68 plus 10% directly from Fenwick. Wondering if the 6'8" MH-MF would be a decent spinnerbait/chatter bait rod? I'm normally a St Croix guy but I do have 3 Fenwick Silverhawks that I really like.
  5. BUMP Let's hear it.. Or is this something you'd rather not share 😂
  6. I was fishing a 1/2 ounce spinner bait in a Mexican lake. My guide said I needed to fish the bait deeper. He slid a 3/8 ounce bullet sinker on the line in front of the spinner bait. I asked if that works. He asked why not? I couldn't think of a reason it wouldn't so I tried it. I was able to cast further, the bait got down deeper, and I started catching bass. Sometimes a simple solution to a problem is best. I don't think the Bait Monkey would like this guide.
  7. A quick observation, the first two spinnerbaits I would consider the swivel on backwards. It really isn't on backwards but the bulk of the rotational mass of the swivel is against the blade. It maybe splitting hairs but the swivel will spin more freely if reversed. Allen
  8. have you worn others brands and how do they compare to huk in your opinion?
  9. Been wearing HUK locally but more importantly - last two trips to Lake Baccarac in Mexico. Blazing sunshine and air temps in the mid to high 90's and more every day. Stayed comfortable. A-Jay
  10. Last time I used my garmin striker this is pretty much what it looked like on the whole pond. Is this a thermocline? This was set on auto gain low and if i manually adjusted the gain it would go away but it seemed like I like a lot of bottom resolution.
  11. I have 1 6 ft 8 mh. And 1 7ft 3 mh Borh in excellent condotion Id sell both for 150 dollars shipped
  12. Regarding Hitena using the figure 8 knot for testing for knot strength. They state they use it because it is consistent between different tyers while the usual knots like the FG, double uni, and palomar vary with the skill of the tyer. They get about 90-95% with the FG and palomar, which are the knots they recommend.
  13. Traveling for work, I stopped in to the DSG in N. Little Rock. In the BASEBALL section, they had a clearance rack of Berkley Powerbaits and Max Scents. Buy 5 - get 5 free. $28.00 for 10 bags of Max Scents!
  14. I would guess you got a bad spool. I've never had problems with Seagaur line, and never really bought the hype of the Yo-zuri stuff. Maybe try another spool of the Hybrid, and if that doesn't work switch to something else. Though at $9 a spool, it's not exactly Berkley Big Game levels of expendable lol.
  15. Yes, you guys are probably all correct. It's been a rough week, I'm a Plumber, it's 104 with heat index to 115, and I did a water heater in an attic yesterday. The heat is getting to my brain I think. It IS a service at Publix, but it left me speechless to see an able bodied man allow somebody else (the fact that it was a young girl adds to my amazement) to walk the groceries out to the car, and then load them. Call me old fashioned I guess. No shame in that guys game. It is really strange where I live, mostly white collar folks who know how to do nothing for themselves. Guess I shouldn't complain, I will always have work, being a plumber. That service is for the old and or infirm, or moms/dads with small rugrats in their arms, etc, etc. Wont happen again.......carry on.
  16. Seaguar red label has been great for me and all my buddies. Spiderwire stealth braid
  17. Wanted to hear people's experiences with these cooling fishing clothes. Do people have a preference of one over the other? We are heading to some really hot weather so wanted to see what people's choices are.
  18. Cottage cheese doesn't belong in yoga pants
  19. Hammer rods. My 7’3 hvy hammer is as light as my nrx853.
  20. Today
  21. None of my local Dick’s had this combo in stock, so what I ended up doing was going to a Sportsman’s Warehouse that had the combo and had them price match it lol.
  22. It's none of my business if you decide to throw your hard earned money at stuff without doing proper research, I just don't have any sympathy for individuals who think they're entitled to a free rental of expensive equipment. Is every store a risk-free trial program where you can buy stuff willy-nilly and just return it if you don't like it now? What ever happened to accountability?
  23. Curious as well. I'm still using the one that came with mine. Much prefer the motor mate style tho
  24. The little Calcutta is a 5.0:1 and the E5 Curado is a 5 ratio reel also.
  25. I like Academy prices and selection. Here in Springfield we have the big Bass pro shops and his prices are crazy. Plus we have Lews sportsman warehouse. I just suscribed to bass time for 12 dollars and they sent me a 10 academy gift card. That was pretty cool of them.
  26. Carolina rig; egg sinker, bead, swivel, leader and hook. Is this the rig your are using? I ask because no rigging term is universally accepted today. You are basically dragging a weight and can't feel what is going on behind it unless something stops the hook and you pull out all the slack line between the weight and hook or a bass does. Using a traditional C-rig the weight is somewhere between 3/8 oz to 1 oz egg sinker, the leader somewhere between 36" to 48" long. Define your Carolina rig. Tom
