  1. Past hour
  2. Looks really nice. Would love to get my hands on one to test it out. Dude was super excited, LOL.
  3. ^^^ True ^^^ This is a great place to learn about new things, but they ain't mandatory. Satisfy yourself, not other people. jj
  4. Reading that post was like looking in the mirror! Keep on fishing how you like to fish!
  5. After looking carefully at it. It doesn't appear to have turned colors, I believe it's the bad lighting in the background that makes it look that way. The braid is offered in the Stealth Gray color and is phenomenal braid. I would like to know how the OP used the braid. We have many other members with no issues whatsoever.
  6. Parts are bnt 2264 and 664. Cost is next to nothing. Six bucks shipping, though. I noticed that 2264 isn't listed but they should have it (maybe under a new part #). Keep your spool tension as loose as possible and they'll last a long time. Edit: Be careful when you pull the spool bearing out of the brake side plate. That wire retainer likes to fly away. I hold one side with my thumb and pry it out with a tiny screwdriver. Wouldn't hurt to do it in the confines of a plastic bag. Good luck.
  7. Lucky for me, these fish are not very pressured and I've had great success (well great for me) on this lake so far this year. My last trip out I caught 5 on a senko, 4 on a frog (with about 10 blowups total) and 1 on a swimbait. I usually average 1-2 fish on the other ponds around here. I really never thought of this. I will definitely give this a try! Unfortunately there are't many edges I can fish, the grass mat is pretty much a solid wall from 0-3' from the shore out to 20'. I can cast to the far side of the mat but anything with trebles (and really any exposed hook) is out of the question. Would a buzzbait drag over the top of the grass mat without picking up vegetables? Although, I hadn't thought of making my own edges as BassNJake suggested so maybe that could work.
  8. Maybe they should just give all of them the same rod and reel and the same one or two baits and no electronics, no power poles, nothing. Really see who the real men are. Some people here are acting like it's so simple to go out and catch 30-40 fish in a day, well there are plenty of guys that don't do it. Like has been said, nobody is forcing anyone to watch it and I doubt too many of them have about had it with MLF.
  9. I don't care what others think, as long as I'm catching em that's all that matters to me.
  10. If you fish for bass, you're a bass fisherman. I guess people can have other opinions about what makes someone a bass fisherman, but who cares? Learning new techniques or trying new equipment can be fun and maybe even game changing, but using tried and true tactics is great too. It doesnt matter what anybody else thinks.
  11. You say you don't think I'll be happy with SX1, or you do think I'll be happy with it? jj
  12. @.ghoti. I fish older Rebels all the time in addition to collecting them. I, on occasion, throw a deep baby n . it's a fantastic bait and catches aplenty of fish. I like the older TN shad color and the suicide(splatterback) color.
  13. Maybe I'm not a real bass fisherman anymore. I seem to fish many of the same baits that I've used for years now.I learn about new baits from my grandson, or here on Bass Resource. I'm not good at drop shot. I've never thrown a Neko rig, or a spybait. I still use standard bass tackle. Aside from an old flipping stick, the longest rod I own is 6'6. I still use round ABU casting reels, and two spin reels. One is a rebuilt ABU Zebco Cardinal 4, which is really an antique now. I rarely fish super fast, having caught more fish on a slower retrieve over the years. I love plastic worms, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, spooks, and rattletraps. I still like to throw Charlie Brewers slider heads, with a variety of smaller plastic worms. The recent thread on Bill Norman crankbaits got me good. I still use some of those. Catts picture of the old Heddon Moss Boss spoon was another one. I still have a white one, and still throw it too. New things come out so fast now, it's been kind of hard to keep up with it all. At one point many years ago, I made the desicion to focus on where to fish, and stopped putting so much stock in the tackle and baits. They've become tools to catch fish with, but knowing where to use them became the key to all this. At some point I'll upgrade my tackle. It's getting there now. The thing is, I still catch my share of bass with all this stuff. But, to some I probably wouldn't be considered a real bass fisherman nowdays. Anyone else think this way?
  14. Exactly! It doesn't matter if I'm fishing a river, creek, or bayou, marshes or swamps, pond, lake or reservoir; I'm targeting the bigger bass. Kinda like deer hunting...I aint here for spikes! 😉
  15. Largemouth, no question. I can find no record of spotted/largemouth intergrades. Spots and smallies, yes, but not the other way. The jaw extends beyond the eye, that is all you need to see.
  16. They could do something with the biggest bass to give incentive to chase bigger fish. Maybe everyone's biggest bass is worth 2-3x the weight. Or maybe their biggest 5?
  17. my hook 7 the depth keeps flashing at 60 feet did hard reboot still does same sting gps works fine anybody every see this problem hooked my head unit to my buddys hook 7 transducer still does same thing
  18. I can't speak for the higher test line but I don't think you'll be happy with this one. With many braided line, you can frey the line pulling out a small tangle with your fingernail quite easily but I've never had that happen with the Sunline, which is the only lighter braid I can say that about.
  19. If I'm by myself I usually target bigger fish. The one thing I know; if I'm around bait, have some decent structure, and have confidence in that spot I will catch fish. If my wife or a buddy comes along I usually go on a standard milk run that works for numbers. My wife wants to catch. In the end though if I'm catching some fish and enjoying the day/night, it's a win.
  20. I use 40lb Power Pro on my baitcaster. I use it for anything top water mainly, spinnerbaits, whopper ploppers, frogs, etc. If for some reason I throw a t-rig or wacky on this setup, I'll throw a leader on but that is rare.
  21. I wonder whether the bail hits the lip of the spool at full extension on this one too. Mmmm? jj
