  1. Past hour
  2. Senkos, flukes, tubes basically any bottom contact bait. I try them all.
  3. That'll work. Those Eagle Claw EWG have served me well, I've been through a ton of them. They do what I need them to do. I'm not going to pay more for something I can't see. I've tried quite a few brands and I've never noticed any major difference that's worth paying for. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.
  4. Yesthey are sucks this lake is 3 hrs away!
  5. Like I said originally it depends on where you believe the fulcrum is. If it is a matter of fact, then please support it. Sorry OP, we are off topic in your thread. My last reply on this subject.
  6. Hello forum, last March caught this nice bass in an acre size pond in Colorado. When I posted it on Fishbrain numerous people stated it’s a Spotted Bass, not a Largemouth. Weighed in at 4.14 pounds, which if it is a Spot is a trophy for us here in Colorado. So is this a Spotted or Largemouth?? Thanks in advance!
  7. Hey guys, I work in Memphis but live in Texas (for now). I end up with a lot of down time and choose to go pond hopping instead of sitting and staring at the walls. I’ve fished the Collierville Civic Center with moderate luck... they were bedding and could be site casted. And I have fished Central Park in Southaven... managed not to get skunked by tossing a Ned Rig. As they are all post spawn and summer is coming on in full force, what are your guys recommendations for area lakes and techniques to find those sluggish summer fish? I considered a saltwater shore rod, to get that extra distance on civic center lake, lol.
  8. Wait a longer until the fish move off with the bait then reel and lift, it's a timing issue. The 4" pocket diamond hook hone will sharpen any hook and last until to lose it, about $2.50-$3 at BPS or wherever. Tom
  9. I have caught LMB in the 2lb range on 4# test mono using a size 6 Eagle Claw Aberdeen hook meant for panfish. It’s all in playing the fish until you get him to shore. Using drag, keeping constant tension and fighting the urge to horse the fish in and you can land almost any fish. I watch Professional and YouTube anglers waterski a fish on the surface and think I know why they do it but where is the fun. Landing a big fish on light tackle is one of life’s great joys.
  10. Can relate to cut-off point with the 10 year old.
  11. Gulp! Minnows, both 1" and 2.5". They seem to love them!
  12. Just reel and lift the rod, rod hook sets are not needed. Get a diamond hook sharpening hone for a few dollars and sharpen the bait holder hooks you have. What are you using for bait? Tom
  13. No 😂 I think it was a little dirty, didn’t gave a chance to wash him off before this nice older lady asked me if I wanted a picture
  14. Nah man, it isn't a matter of opinion, but a matter of fact. A longer rod gives a greater moment (pulling force) to the fish. Think of it like a pry bar.
  15. Thats what I thought . Is that fish blind ?
  16. In celebration of Memorial day and Fathers day we are offering free shipping to USA orders $50 or more. Free shipping goes until the end of June 2019. No coupon codes needed.
  17. Luhr Jensen hot & tots absolutely crush smallies.
  18. Does anyone know who makes this? Friend of mine lost his and I am trying to help him find some more. Allen
  19. Bandit crankbaits (2") for a reservoir with all three black bass but the vast majority of them being smallies? Or am I opening myself up to getting strikes from smaller fish? BPS has these bandits on sale at the moment and I was thinking of picking up a handful. What crankbaits are good for targeting smallies?
  20. Welcome to BR. I would guess it weighs 4.5 lbs. It's got a 6lbers head & a 3lber's body.
  21. Question 2 depends a lot on where you believe the fulcrum is. Some think the hand is the fulcrum, others believe it is the part of the rod that goes from action to power. Not an engineer so I can't swear to either. I think the best example that I can think of off hand is that you do not often see saltwater sport fisherman fishing tuna or marlin on a 5ft rod.
  22. I just moved to Central Florida for the summer, finally had the chance to go rip some lips. I caught this beautiful fish. Can you guys give me a guess on how much it weighs? I didn’t have a scale on hand sadly.
  23. VMC or Gamakatsu hooks - worth the money. Don't need much of a sweep to set the hook on panfish. If your rod is pointed at 11 O'Clock when you want to set, just a gentle sweep to 9 O'Clock (or 1 and 3 if you sweep to the right).
  24. This one I am not sure of the name, it is a very close copy of the Aldabaran BFS including the braking system.
  25. Today
  26. There are a few Chinese Baitcasters that have some good reviews and impressive results compared to reels that cost much more. Haibo Steed
  27. I would also recommend a nucanoe kayak, I own a nucanoe frontier 12 and have been in the pursuit model, both are amazing ! Super stable and light
