  1. never heard of anyone bein knowledgable about musky. : lol
  2. well, I thought I would find something on how to remove a hook from a bird. about all I could find is... Handling Live Birds The Canadian Wildlife Service provides the following bird handling guidelines: Seabirds have strongly pointed or hooked bills and will inflict damage to a person's hand or body. Before handling a bird, it may be advisable to put on a pair of gloves. NEVER HOLD A BIRD CLOSE TO YOUR EYES. Get the bird on board as quickly and gently as possible and, depending upon the size of the bird, seize the bill (large birds like an albatross) or immobilize their wings (medium to small birds like fulmars, shearwaters, auks, gulls). 1 Grab the bill. 2 Restrain the wings to prevent flapping. 3 Determine location of hook. 4 Cut barbed end off with pliers. 5 Remove hook from body or bill. *If hooks were swallowed, do not remove hook backward up a bird's throat. First, attempt to reach down the bird's throat and remove the hook. If unable to reach hook, make a small (1-2 cm) incision in the bird's neck and pull out the hook. If an incision is made, place bird in a dark, clean, dry box for 1-2 hours to let it recover. Return to the water only during the daylight hours. http://www.canadiansablefish.com/mgmtplan.htm must be a better one than that... but this is at least something..

  5. I won't tell if you don't....... :
  6. lmao, u must have been to one of them meetings, eh?
  7. again, if you're fishing in electric motors, and you really were 80 yards from the dock... you handled him better than I. because I would have replied, "bad day fishin, huh? good luck next time, I got a book you can read on fishing. it costs next to nothing, and you can even buy those expensive lures to maybe help you out." hm. or I would have just said, "the wife called, huh?" ack, I'd think those things anyhow. lol
  8. don't use nothing. your thumb is proof and bragging rights that you caught lots of fish. lol
  9. nice post culver... I found out today, go to a farm pond and fish if ever leaving a lake in a 'slump'. I know the bass do bite again, so tomorrow will be better.
  10. a read from Baitmonkey's Anonymous: it is not surprising that our baitmonkey "gifts" have been characterized by countless vain attempts to prove we could buy like other people. the idea that somehow, someday he will control and enjoy his baits, and how much he buys, is the great obsession of every abnormal baitmonkey sufferer. the persistence of this illusion is astonishing. many pursue it into the gates of insanity or death. We learned that we had to fully concede to our innermost selves that we were baitmonkey sufferers. this is the first step in recovery. the delusion that we are like other people, or presently may be, has to be smashed. ------------------ good luck bretheren. may the baitmonkey be with you. (DOH! I meant, god)
  11. Side Note: the baitmonkey is starting to whisper sweet nothings in my ear.........
  12. amen to nick barr... with what raul said, I'll even put "Glenn is the F#*$ MAN!" for a name on the back of the shirt!
  13. fishing different places, tryin to bank fish. and having started comin to the forum with only the knowledge of tying a clinch knot. I consistently catch at least 1 bass on each outing, most of the time. I still get skunked, but here and there. no longer everytime I fish. I at least hook up with a few fish every time I fish, here and there I get skunked, but rarely as much as before. my biggest, a 7 1/2lber.. unweighed. and easily could have been 8lbs. my biggest to date, but will be overridden in the near-future. and today, dinks for bass, but first time I have caught nearly 22 bass in one outing, in only a period of 2 hours.
  14. real big bass have a greater chance of gettin off without a net. If I got a 10lber, I'll save the glory of lippin it after I get him in the boat.
  15. I often hear of times when a blade might actually spook the fish, if that's true that might help right?
  16. "In Pursuit of Giant Bass" by Bill Murphy. I'm half-way through it now. some great stuff in there.
  17. what I've learned, tried, and had occasionally work is throw a tube in the middle. let it drop, and wait for a bite while it hits bottom. if nothing. jerk it a few times like its injured, and if still nothing. reel it in for another cast. tube, lipless rattletrap, people say senko's work, flukes of course. I haven't tried topwater, so I don't know.
  18. thats what I'm sayiin... I didn't say anyone was being attacked.... I was saying, noone was being attacked, therefore noone should be offended. hah anyhow, I just want to be associated with the team. maybe get some free gear here and there. freeload off of ya perhaps. maybe give you all a few fish. lol
  19. oh please... the only negative thing here is the people who's feeling are hurt for not bein mentioned. otherwise, noone has attacked anyone, or even said anything negative about anyone. my ego isn't hurt. although I was wondering where my name was? lol
  20. I am in a constant slump. when I catch one, its a great thing. when I catch two or three, I had a good day. not havin a boat is a major player, because I can't get to places where I am more comfortable when I want to get out of a slump. locating fish is a major dilema. quite alot I see myself saying, "I'd eat that if I were a fish!"... when I say that, I think the presentation is excellent. maybe the bass don't think so. when I'm in a slump, I get restless. moments in a spot are short lived. I'm more careless, makin noise, bad casts, etc. to get out of it. I throw crankbaits or spinnerbaits more often. to get out the restlessness. then I stay in spots a bit longer. I try to become more aware of what I'm doing so I'm not as careless about the noise I make, usually a reminder helps me accomplish that. I needa start flippin. I have alot of confidence in that, even though I rarely have ever been flippin.
  21. you'll catch fish on lizards. I don't know how you fish them, but you can almost fish them however u feel at the time. steady retrieve, hop it off the bottom, drag it along the bottom, skip it along the bottom, and I'm sure there are other ways. I usually fish them hopping it along the bottom slowly. or jerk it twice, pause, and so on.
  22. I just realized how irresistable a c-rig would have been. as hard as the wind was blowin, that plastic would have been hoverin around. I never even thought about it.... :-/
  23. the same way y'all take your freezing weather. lol
  24. lol, amen to that!
