  1. Sorry you didn't get a direct answer. I've never seen a reference to those Discussion Threads. I pick up two of the vest, they were on sale for $64.95 each, when I went to check out they took another $20.00 off, $54.95 you can't go wrong. I was just wondering who made the vest in case Cabela's stop selling the recharge kits. Also they had free shipping for orders over $125.00, so I picked up a few more goodies and got free shipping. Made my day Joe
  2. I assume Shimano reels are like anything else, you get what you pay for, I have 1 Scorpion 1000 I love this reel, 2 Citica 200 that are OK, had a green Curado 5:1 ratio I used for crankbaits hated that reel, also had a Callisto CSO-100 that I did not like. I'm a Quantum guy, I have 2 Tour PT's, 2 Quantum 7.0:1 Burners, 2 Accurist PT's and 1 Energy PT. I love all the Quantum's, cast great, reel Smooth, but these are all top dollars reels. The only top dollar Shimano is the Scorpion and I do love that one, had a couple of the new Curado E's in my hand and they look and feel great. I'll probably just stick with my spinning gear for all my little stuff. Thanks Joe
  3. I been using spinning gear for little T/R French fry worms, little 4" worms, just figured I asked about a little baitcaster. There's one of these BPS reels on E-Bay for $24.00 Joe
  4. What would you guys consider a good Finesse Baitcaster? I'm looking at this http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90674?cm_mmc=froogle-_-100-1-1-_--1-_-38-350-460-00&hvarAID=46KY&mr:trackingCode=911BE1D8-EAB0-DD11-B7E2-001422107090&mr:referralID=NA and was wondering if anyone's used one. Thanks Joe
  5. I have my boat a 1987 Skeeter Starfire 175 with a 1975 85HP Johnson hooked up to a 12V solar panel, and all I have done for the past 3 years is crank it every 2 weeks. I mix StarTron all year with my gas, check out there website, www.starbrite.com , this is some good stuff. Good Luck Joe

Discussion Thread Response (Shane H.) 11/10/2008 08:54 AM Hello Joe, Thank you for visiting Cabelas Product Information Department, The Guardian units are made by a private label manufacturer for Cabelas. Unfortunately I do not even know who makes them. But if in the future you should need the rearming kit we would be able to get it by parts request. Otherwise we have them now as well, if you want to get a couple. If you have further questions feel free to e-mail us again, or log on to our "live chat" page. You can click on "Customer Service" at the top of any of our webpages, we would be happy to assist you. Thank you for using Cabelas.com. 7. Does anybody know who makes Cabela's Guardian 3500 Manual Inflatable PFD Life Vest? http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0038077943057a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCHFEAT_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&QueryText=Inflatable+life+vest+&sort=all&Go.y=10&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&Go.x=19&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1 Thanks Joe
  8. http://www.acadiasports.com/rods.asp?ru=0&v=&ssid= has some nice rods. Good Luck Joe
  9. Energy is a great reel, have one, if you prefer the Quantums stick with them. I also have two Tour PT and two Academy Sport 7:1 burners made buy Quantum, love them all. Good Luck Joe
  10. Its just such a long rod I was going to solely use it for flippin' jigs in the qualifier. I put some 15 lb fluro coated mono we will see how that does for now but I will most likely end up putting some braided on it before sunday. My flippin rod is my frog rod as well. When you get a bass caught in heavy cover, you'll wish you had 50 pound test! Definately put braid on it, they lake will probably be pretty muddy considering the rain we've been having. So line visibility should not be an issue. If you still want the invisibility of flouro, just use about a 4-foot flouro leader. Sam, why not flouro on treble hook baits? Does it make cranks dive deeper or something? I would like to know that answer also. Thanks Joe
  11. Read all you can, fish with what you have, and most of all have FUN, you'll be picking up stuff here and there and before you know it you'll have a arsenal of fishing equipment. Take your time and understand what you are buying and what application you plan on using it. Good Luck Joe
  12. Some info http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1221360798/8#8 Good Luick Joe
  13. Count the bait down to the bottom to get a baseline for that bait and trailer. Then pitch to a hole. If the bait stops before the end of the count, swing immediately. Do not wait to see if there is a fish there, since all you might feel is the fish spitting the bait. If it gets to the bottom, pop it a few times, or shake it. Anything feels just slightly different, swing. The bites are frequently subtle, and that is an understatement. Many times I've been flipping in weedbeds, and I've seen the strikes. Visually they are quite violent, yet on the tactile side almost not detectable. Its because they grab the bait on the slack line fall. That Sufix braid is green and hard to see, what do you think about the Hi Vis braided lines? Thanks Joe
  14. I believe the problem is, I'm not sure it's a hit or not, I know of two hits this summer for sure. Now soon as I feel the slightest bump I set the hook. I can go over the same area I just jig fish with a T/R worm and get um in the boat. I'm not giving up. Joe
  15. I'm new to jigs, I'm using 65lb Sufix Braid, but I haven't landed a bass all year jigging. :'( Good Luck Joe
  16. How many years have you used these particular reels ? No years yet, I hope to get some years out of them, I picked my first one up I think Dec. 2007. I know I been using the two I have this year with no problems. One I use just for jigging and the other just Jerkbaits. I have some top dollar reels also, 2 Quantum Tours, Shimano Scorpion, 2 Citica's, 1 Curado, a couple more Academy Sports Quantum Burner's, and a few more. When on the boat, which is 99% of the time I fish with 5 to 8 rods, most of my set ups are for specific types of fishing. My son I said has one, it turns out he has 2 also and he like me also uses a lot of different set ups, but it seems he always has the Megaforce in his hand. I like them my son likes them, just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope they hold up.
  17. I just like you to know I have 2 Megaforce reels, my son has one, and another guy I fish with has one, we all love them, I got a 19.5lb striper in on 12 lb line with no problems, that fish fought for 25 minuets. Good Luck Joe
  18. I'm sure everyone's looked at reels on E-Bay, I can't figure these Curado reels out, I know the 100 is the little and 200 the larger and I know the E is the 2009. I see some CU, Bantam, SF. I seen this reel last week and it didn't sell and now its relisted again http://cgi.ebay.com/Shimano-Curado-Bantam-CU-200_W0QQitemZ120304761933QQihZ002QQcategoryZ108153QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I just don't understand how some reels with the same description sell for like $140.00 and some don't sell or go for $65.00 or so. Joe
  19. We rented a golf cart, I was planning on taking one of my reels, then take a ride to BPS and pick up a new rod, I can always use a new rod :, I get up early all the time so I was hoping to be able to fish a little each mourning. Joe
  20. I'm going to Disney FL. next Friday, 9/19/08 to 9/27/08, staying in a cabin at Fort Wilderness Resort, I want to fish while I'm there, need all the suggestions I can get. My daughter stayed in one of these cabins before and told me they rent fishing rods at Fort Wilderness. Has anyone fished this Resort? Thanks Joe
  21. WOW, who has them on sale? Thanks Joe

I fished 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, haven't tried any 3/4 yet. I fished black/ blue w&w/out trailers, green pumpkin w&w/o trailers, white, black. I fish mostly around fallen timber, water is mostly stained, fished slow on the bottom and up and down swim back to the boat I just can't get a bite. I'm not giving up, I'm just stumped. Joe

Is there some secret to jig fishing I'm missing, every outing this year I tried jigs, and haven't even had a bite, I'd go back and fish the same spot with a T/R worm and hook up. I did a lot of searches on here and other sites and tried to follow all the guide lines but with no success. Thanks Joe
  25. This guy has a few http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-QUANTUM-TOUR-EDITION-TE1160PT-BAITCASTING-REEL-NIB_W0QQitemZ380058583652QQihZ025QQcategoryZ108153QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Good Luck Joe
