  1. Rubi22, try this, cast as far as you can, then peel off about 6 more feet of line, now get some electric tape and cover the line on the spool with the tape. The line can't go any further then the tape, this will stop your backlashing, as soon as you feel confident casting take the tape off. Good Luck Joe
  2. I'm with you Marty, I just wait till they get low, I sometimes have 8 rods laying on the front deck, with about 8 more in the locker. I use so many deferent lines I would go broke changing them on a schedule. How do you store your rods? Thanks Joe
  3. I own 2 of these, my son has 1 and another guy I fish with has 1, never had any problems. I had no trouble getting a 19.5lb Striper in the boat with only 12lb line on this reel. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_96615_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1 Good Luck Joe
  4. I don't have any complaints about what I'm using, just looking for opinions. This Sufix sounds pretty good and also heard a lot of good things about Tuff Line XP on BPS forum. A little pair of scissor will cut the braid. Thanks Joe
  5. I been tying a Palomar, has not come undone yet. What are you tying? Thanks Joe
  6. I know this topic has probably been discussed, but with all the braids, Spiderwire Stealth, Spiderwire Ultracast, Stren Super Braid, Tuff Line Plus, I was wondering what you guys like best and why, I'm currently using 40lb Power Pro for frog fishing in slop and 17lb Crystal for jigs. Thanks Joe
  7. Has anyone ever replaced the rotary speed control switch on a Minn Kota Maxxum, I'm talking about the little blue switch behind the speed dial on the foot pedal, and were did you get it from, I E-Mailed Minn Kota but they have not got back to me yet. Thanks Joe
  8. I have a 1987 Skeeter Starfire 175, and I can't get under the deck, I used the Isolater Bolts from BPS, 8 of them coast $19.99 and I'm running a Minn Kota Maxxum 101, they seem to hold fine, but do check them for tightness often. Good Luck Joe
  9. I'm no pro, but I do well throwing Baitcasters, but I use this for skipping under docks ( don't knock till you try it, this is one smooooth reel ) http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0013026116646a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=zebco&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=zebco&noImage=0 Good Luck Joe
  10. I have a 12/24 volt receptacle on my 1987 Skeeter for the T/M, I have a MinnKota Maxxum 101 I like to put on. How would you go about wiring this thing up? Thanks Joe
  11. I'm looking at this one http://www.onlinemarine.com/cgi-local/SoftCart.exe/online_superstore/fishing/minn_kota_mk315_battery_charger.htm?L+scstore+ymjp6926ff5af05a+1212413441 anyone have it, and how you like it? Thanks Joe
  12. Guys, I have a 101 lb Minn Kota I'm thinking of putting on my 1987 Skeeter, I don't have any bank chargers on my boat, everything has been 12 volt. After I hook the 3 batteries for 36 volt, how would you charge them without putting all the money out for a 3 bank charger? Thanks Joe
  13. Try this, cast as far as you can, then peel off a couple more yards. Now get some electric tape and tape up the spool, next time you cast you can't go any further then the tape, this will reduce your backlash till you get the hang of it. Good Luck Joe
  14. Field & Stream says this is the best value in a Baitcaster reel http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_96615_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1 I just landed a 38" 19.5 lb Striper on Mothers day with this reel and had no problem getting this fish in. Good Luck Joe
  15. I look a little strange using a Zebco fishing from my Skeeter, but it is the $59.99 Zebco Omega Z03, it is actually a sweet reel. My son has 2 of them on his 19.5' Nitro. Don't knock it till you try it. Joe
